Empava 36" Electric Stove Induction Cooktop EMPV-IDC36 User Manual

Model: EMPV-IDC36

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your Empava 36" Electric Stove Induction Cooktop. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference.

The Empava induction cooktop offers advanced cooking technology, combining rapid heating with precise temperature control. Induction cooking is highly efficient, generating heat directly in the cookware, which keeps the cooktop surface cooler to the touch compared to traditional electric or gas cooktops.

2. Important Safety Information

Always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, burns, or injury. This appliance is designed for household use only.

  • Ensure proper installation by a qualified technician in accordance with local codes.
  • Use only induction-compatible cookware. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of a pot or pan, it is induction friendly.
  • Do not leave the cooktop unattended during operation.
  • Keep children away from the appliance during use and when it is cooling down.
  • The cooktop surface may remain hot after use; avoid touching until it has cooled.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or sharp objects on the vitro ceramic glass surface.
  • In case of malfunction, disconnect power and contact customer service.

3. Installation Instructions

Proper installation is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of your cooktop. Refer to the detailed installation diagram and dimensions provided.

3.1 Cooktop Dimensions and Cutout Requirements

The cooktop requires a specific cutout in your countertop for proper fit and ventilation. Ensure adequate air exhaust areas are not obstructed.

DimensionValue
Width (A)36" (914mm)
Depth (B)21" (533mm)
Height (C)2 ⅛" (55mm)

Important: For perfect ventilation, provide a vent under the countertop, in the front of the cabinet, and in the back of the cabinet. The ventilation opening should extend the full length of the cooktop cutout.

3.2 Electrical Requirements

This cooktop operates on 240V and requires hard wiring. Consult a qualified electrician to ensure your home's electrical system can support the 9600 watts power requirement and to perform the installation.

4. Operating Instructions

Your Empava induction cooktop features intuitive touch controls for each of its five burners.

4.1 Turning On/Off and Adjusting Heat

  1. To turn on the cooktop, press the main power button (usually indicated by a circle with a vertical line).
  2. Place an induction-compatible pot or pan on the desired burner zone.
  3. Press the "ON/OFF" button corresponding to that burner.
  4. Adjust the heat level using the '+' and '-' buttons. The cooktop offers 9 heat level settings.
  5. For rapid heating, press the 'B' (Boost) button for the selected burner. This will provide maximum power for a short period.
  6. To turn off a burner, press its "ON/OFF" button again. To turn off the entire cooktop, press the main power button.

4.2 Pan Detection and Safety

The cooktop features a pan size sensor that heats the element to the size of your cookware. If no pan is present or an incompatible pan is used, the burner will not activate, and an error code (e.g., "E1") may display, accompanied by an audible alert. This ensures safety and efficient energy use.

The cooktop surface remains cooler to the touch because heat is generated directly in the cookware. A "Hot Surface" indicator ("H") will appear in the display to warn you when an element is still hot.

4.3 Child Control Lock

To prevent unintended activation, especially by children, the cooktop includes a child control lock feature. Press and hold the lock button (indicated by a padlock icon) to activate or deactivate this function.

4.4 Timer Function

Each burner can be set with a timer. Press the timer button (indicated by a clock icon) and use the '+' and '-' buttons to set the desired cooking duration. The burner will automatically turn off once the timer expires.

4.5 Compatible Cookware

Induction cooktops require cookware with a magnetic base. Most stainless steel and cast iron cookware are compatible. Aluminum, copper, or glass cookware will not work unless they have an induction-compatible base.

To test compatibility, place a magnet on the bottom of your cookware. If it sticks, the cookware is suitable for induction cooking.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

The flawless Empava smooth vitro ceramic glass surface allows for effortless cleanup. To maintain its appearance and performance:

  • Clean spills immediately, especially sugary spills, to prevent them from burning onto the surface.
  • Use a ceramic cooktop cleaner and a non-abrasive pad or cloth.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive scrubbers, or steel wool, as these can scratch or damage the surface.
  • For stubborn stains, a razor scraper designed for ceramic cooktops can be used carefully at an angle.
  • Ensure the cooktop is cool before cleaning to prevent burns and to allow for easier removal of cooked-on food.
