Operating the Router
Wireless Network Management
The Archer C50 supports dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) for flexible connectivity.
- 2.4 GHz Band: Provides wider coverage and better penetration through walls, suitable for general browsing and older devices.
- 5 GHz Band: Offers faster speeds and less interference, ideal for streaming HD video and online gaming, but with a shorter range.
You can manage your wireless settings, including SSID, password, and security type, through the web management page.
Guest Network
The router allows you to create a separate guest network to provide internet access to visitors without sharing your main network's password or resources. This enhances security and privacy.
Parental Controls
Utilize parental controls to manage and monitor internet access for children's devices. You can set time limits, block specific websites, and restrict access to inappropriate content.
Quality of Service (QoS)
QoS allows you to prioritize network traffic for specific applications or devices, ensuring smooth performance for critical activities like online gaming or video conferencing.
TP-Link Tether App
The TP-Link Tether app provides an easy way to manage your router from your smartphone or tablet. It allows for quick setup, parental control management, and network monitoring.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your router.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the TP-Link official website for new firmware versions. Updating firmware can improve performance, add new features, and fix bugs.
- Rebooting: If you experience network issues, try rebooting the router by unplugging the power adapter for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.
- Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions, large metal objects, and devices that emit strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwave ovens, cordless phones).
- Cleaning: Keep the router clean and free of dust. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners.
Troubleshooting
No Internet Access
- Check the Internet LED on the router. If it's off or red, ensure the Ethernet cable from your modem is securely connected to the router's WAN port.
- Reboot your modem and router.
- Verify your internet connection directly from the modem (if possible) to rule out ISP issues.
- Check your router's WAN settings in the web management page to ensure they match your ISP's requirements (e.g., Dynamic IP, Static IP, PPPoE).
Poor Wireless Signal or Slow Speed
- Relocate the router to a more central position, away from obstacles and interference sources.
- Adjust the router's antennas for optimal signal strength.
- Try changing the wireless channel in the router's settings to avoid interference from neighboring networks.
- Ensure your devices are connecting to the appropriate Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz for range, 5 GHz for speed).
- Update the wireless adapter drivers on your devices.
Cannot Access Web Management Page
- Ensure your device is correctly connected to the router (wired or wireless).
- Verify that you are typing the correct address: http://tplinkwifi.net or http://192.168.0.1.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies, or try a different browser.
- Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer.
