Setup and Assembly
The VEX Explorers Rover is designed for easy snap-together assembly. Follow the steps below to construct your rover. Refer to the included visual guide for detailed part identification and connection points.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all pieces from the packaging. Organize them by type to facilitate easier assembly.
- Assemble Chassis: Begin by connecting the main chassis components. Ensure all connections snap securely into place.
- Attach Wheels: Mount the wheels onto the designated axles on the chassis. Verify that all wheels rotate freely.
- Install Solar Panels: Attach the solar panel arrays to the rover's frame. These panels are decorative and do not provide power.
- Construct Action Arm: Assemble the multi-jointed action arm. Pay attention to the orientation of each segment to ensure proper articulation.
- Attach Action Arm and Satellite Dish: Secure the completed action arm and the rotating satellite dish to the main body of the rover.
- Final Checks: Once all pieces are connected, gently test the movement of the wheels, action arm, and satellite dish to ensure proper assembly.

Operating the Rover
The HEXBUG VEX Explorers Rover is a manual operation model designed for imaginative play. It does not require batteries or electronic controls.
- Movement: The rover features free-rolling wheels. Gently push or pull the rover to move it across surfaces.
- Action Arm: The articulated action arm can be manually positioned and extended. Use it to simulate collecting samples or interacting with the environment.
- Satellite Dish: The satellite dish can be rotated manually to simulate communication with a base station.
- Astronaut Figurine: The included astronaut figurine can be placed in various positions around the rover to enhance play scenarios.
Maintenance
Proper care will ensure the longevity of your HEXBUG VEX Explorers Rover.
- Cleaning: To clean the rover, wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Do not immerse the rover in water.
- Storage: Store the rover in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent material degradation.
- Handling: Avoid applying excessive force to the snap-together joints, as this may cause damage.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your VEX Explorers Rover, consider the following common solutions:
- Loose Connections: If parts feel loose or detach easily, ensure they are fully snapped into place. Apply gentle, firm pressure until a click is heard or felt.
- Missing Pieces: Carefully check the packaging and surrounding area for any small pieces that may have been overlooked during unpacking. If a piece is genuinely missing, refer to the "Warranty and Support" section.
- Limited Movement: If the action arm or wheels do not move freely, check for any misaligned parts or obstructions. Re-assemble the affected section if necessary.
