Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly set up your ALP620 antenna:

  1. Choose a Location: Select a location that provides a clear line of sight to the wireless transmitters and is free from obstructions like large metal objects or walls that could block RF signals. Higher positions are generally better.
  2. Mounting:
    • The ALP620 comes with an integrated mounting bracket.
    • Attach the antenna securely to a microphone stand, truss, or other suitable mounting hardware using the provided bracket. Ensure it is stable and will not fall.
    • Orient the antenna towards the area where the wireless transmitters will be used. The wider end of the "shark fin" should generally face the coverage area.
  3. Connect RF Cable: Connect a high-quality 50 Ohm coaxial cable (e.g., RG-8X, RG-213, or equivalent) with BNC connectors from the ALP620's BNC output to the antenna input of your wireless receiver or distribution amplifier.
  4. Cable Management: Route the coaxial cable neatly and securely to prevent tripping hazards and to protect the cable from damage. Avoid sharp bends in the cable.
  5. System Check: Once connected, power on your wireless receiver and perform an RF scan to confirm proper signal reception and identify any potential interference.

Operating Guidelines

The ALP620 is a passive antenna and does not require external power for operation. Its performance is optimized by proper placement and orientation.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your ALP620 antenna, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Interference from other RF sources.
  • Antenna damage.
  • Re-orient antenna towards transmitters.
  • Relocate antenna to a clear line of sight.
  • Use shorter, higher-quality 50 Ohm coaxial cable.
  • Perform an RF scan to identify and avoid interfering frequencies.
  • Inspect antenna for damage; replace if necessary.
No signal detected
  • Loose or incorrect BNC connection.
  • Damaged coaxial cable.
  • Antenna connected to wrong input.
