1. Introduction
The Aimpoint Micro S-1 is a compact, low-profile optic specifically designed for use on shotguns equipped with a raised rib on the barrel. Its innovative carbon fiber mounting system positions the optic on the lowest possible optical axis without adding unnecessary weight or damaging the shotgun rib. This sight attaches directly to the shotgun barrel at any point along the ventilated rib, and includes a selection of interchangeable adapter plates to accommodate most popular shotgun rib sizes.
The Micro S-1 significantly enhances hit percentage for hunters and sporting clays enthusiasts. The large, bright 6 MOA red dot provides an optimal combination of target acquisition speed and visibility.
Key Features:
- Optimized for use on shotguns.
- 1X (non-magnifying) optic.
- 6 MOA red dot for rapid target acquisition.
- Submersible to 15 ft (4.5 meters).
- 12 brightness settings, including one extra bright setting for various light conditions.
- Up to 50,000 hours (over 5 years) of constant operation from a single CR-2032 battery.
- Lightweight at 3.5 oz (100 g).
2. Safety Information
Always handle firearms and optics with extreme care. Read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before installing or operating the Aimpoint Micro S-1 sight. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to equipment.
- Always ensure the firearm is unloaded and pointed in a safe direction before handling or installing the sight.
- Do not look directly into the sun or any intense light source through the sight, as this may cause permanent eye damage.
- Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
- Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.
- Avoid dropping the sight or subjecting it to severe impacts, which could damage internal components.
3. Package Contents
Verify that all components are present in the package:
- Aimpoint Micro S-1 Red Dot Reflex Sight
- CR-2032 Battery (pre-installed or separate)
- Interchangeable Adapter Plates (various sizes for shotgun ribs)
- Mounting Screws
- Hex Key (for mounting screws)
- User Manual (this document)
4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Battery Installation
The Aimpoint Micro S-1 uses one CR-2032 battery. The battery compartment is located on the side of the sight, typically under the brightness adjustment dial.
- Unscrew the battery cap/brightness adjustment dial counter-clockwise.
- Insert the CR-2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing outwards (towards the cap).
- Carefully screw the battery cap back on clockwise until it is hand-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.2. Mounting the Sight
The Micro S-1 is designed to mount directly onto the ventilated rib of a shotgun barrel. Select the appropriate adapter plate that best fits the width of your shotgun's rib.
- Ensure the firearm is unloaded and safe.
- Identify the correct adapter plate from the included selection that matches your shotgun rib width (6-12mm).
- Place the chosen adapter plate onto the bottom of the Micro S-1 sight.
- Position the sight with the adapter plate onto the shotgun's ventilated rib at your desired location.
- Using the provided hex key, tighten the mounting screws on the bottom of the sight to secure it firmly to the rib. Ensure the sight is level and aligned. Do not overtighten to avoid damaging the rib.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Powering On/Off and Brightness Adjustment
The Micro S-1 is always on when the battery is installed. To adjust the brightness of the red dot:
- Rotate the brightness adjustment dial (which also serves as the battery cap) clockwise to increase the dot intensity.
- Rotate the dial counter-clockwise to decrease the dot intensity.
- There are 12 distinct brightness settings, allowing for optimal visibility in various lighting conditions, from very low light to bright daylight.

Figure 4: The intensity dial on the side of the sight controls the brightness of the red dot.
5.2. Zeroing the Sight
After mounting, the sight must be zeroed to your shotgun and preferred ammunition. This process adjusts the point of impact to match your point of aim.
- Secure your shotgun in a stable rest.
- Fire a shot at a target at a known distance (e.g., 25 yards).
- Observe the point of impact relative to your point of aim.
- Use the windage and elevation adjustment screws (typically located on the top and side of the sight, under protective caps) to move the red dot towards the point of impact. Each click of adjustment moves the point of impact a specific amount at a given distance.
- Repeat firing and adjusting until the point of impact consistently matches your point of aim.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning
To maintain optimal performance, keep the lenses and exterior of the sight clean.
- Use a soft, clean cloth to wipe the exterior of the sight.
- For lenses, use a lens brush or compressed air to remove loose debris. Then, gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth and lens cleaning solution. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
- Do not use solvents or strong cleaning agents on the sight body.
6.2. Battery Replacement
Replace the CR-2032 battery when the red dot becomes dim or disappears, or after approximately 5 years of continuous use. Refer to section 4.1 for battery installation instructions.
6.3. Storage
When not in use, store the sight in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, consider removing the battery to prevent potential leakage, although the sight is designed for long battery life.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Aimpoint Micro S-1, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Red dot is not visible or very dim. | Dead or low battery. Incorrect battery orientation. Brightness setting too low. | Replace battery (CR-2032). Ensure battery is inserted with positive (+) side out. Increase brightness using the adjustment dial. |
| Red dot appears distorted or blurry. | Dirty lens. Astigmatism (user's eye condition). | Clean the lenses thoroughly. If the issue persists, consult an eye care professional. |
| Sight loses zero. | Mounting screws loose. Severe impact. | Check and tighten mounting screws. Re-zero the sight. If damage is suspected, contact Aimpoint support. |
| Water inside the sight. | Battery cap not fully tightened. Damage to seals. | Ensure battery cap is fully tightened. If water ingress occurs despite proper sealing, contact Aimpoint support. |
