5. Setup

5.1 Power Supply

Your sewing machine can be powered by either the included AC adapter or 4 x AA batteries (not included).

• AC Adapter: Insert the DC plug of the adapter into the power adapter socket on the back of the machine. Plug the adapter into a suitable wall outlet (100-240V, 50-60Hz).
• Batteries: Open the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the machine. Insert 4 x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover.

Note: Do not use both the AC adapter and batteries simultaneously. Remove batteries when using the AC adapter or when the machine will not be used for an extended period.

5.2 Threading the Machine

Proper threading is crucial for correct stitch formation.

5.2.1 Winding the Bobbin

1. Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winding pin.
2. Place a spool of thread onto the upper thread spool pin.
3. Guide the thread from the spool through the bobbin winding tension disc.
4. Wind the thread around the empty bobbin a few times manually.
5. Push the bobbin winding pin to the right.
6. Turn on the machine (or press the foot pedal) to start winding. Stop when the bobbin is full.
7. Cut the thread and push the bobbin winding pin back to the left. Remove the wound bobbin.

5.2.2 Installing the Lower Bobbin

1. Slide open the bobbin cover plate located on the sewing platform.
2. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case, ensuring the thread unwinds counter-clockwise.
3. Pull the thread through the small slot in the bobbin case.
4. Close the bobbin cover plate.

5.2.3 Threading the Upper Thread

1. Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the handwheel towards you.
2. Place a spool of thread onto the upper thread spool pin.
3. Guide the thread through the first thread guide.
4. Pass the thread through the tension control dial.
5. Guide the thread through the take-up lever (from right to left).
6. Thread the needle from front to back. Use the needle-threading device if needed.
7. Pull about 10-15 cm of thread through the needle eye.

5.2.4 Bringing Up the Lower Thread

1. Hold the upper thread gently with your left hand.
2. Turn the handwheel towards you slowly, lowering the needle into the needle plate and then raising it again.
3. As the needle rises, it will catch the lower bobbin thread, forming a loop.
4. Use tweezers or your fingers to pull the lower thread loop up through the needle plate.
5. Pull both the upper and lower threads under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine, leaving about 10 cm of thread.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Preparing to Sew

1. Ensure the machine is properly threaded (both upper and lower threads).
2. Place the fabric under the presser foot.
3. Lower the presser foot lever.
4. Turn on the light using the L/H switch if needed.

6.2 Starting to Sew

You can operate the machine using either the power switch or the foot pedal.

• Using the Power Switch: Slide the ON/OFF switch to 'ON'. The machine will start sewing at the selected speed (L for low, H for high).
• Using the Foot Pedal: Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'OFF' position. Plug the foot pedal into its socket. Press the foot pedal to start sewing and release to stop. The speed is controlled by the L/H switch.

6.3 Finishing a Seam

1. Stop the machine (release foot pedal or slide switch to 'OFF').
2. Raise the needle to its highest position by turning the handwheel.
3. Raise the presser foot lever.
4. Pull the fabric gently towards the back of the machine.
5. Cut the threads using the built-in thread cutter or scissors, leaving about 10-15 cm of thread.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your sewing machine.

7.1 Cleaning

• Always unplug the machine before cleaning.
• Use a soft brush to remove lint and dust from the needle plate area and bobbin case.
• Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

7.2 Needle Replacement

Replace the needle if it becomes bent, dull, or if you are experiencing skipped stitches.

1. Unplug the machine.
2. Raise the needle to its highest position.
3. Loosen the needle clamp screw with a screwdriver.
4. Remove the old needle.
5. Insert a new needle with the flat side facing the back of the machine, pushing it up as far as it will go.
6. Tighten the needle clamp screw securely.
