1. Introduction

The Girmi VP26 Electric Food Steamer is designed for healthy and efficient cooking of various foods using steam. This appliance features a 750W heating element, a large 12-liter capacity distributed across three levels, a 60-minute timer, and an automatic shut-off function for convenience and safety. Please read this manual carefully before first use and keep it for future reference.

2. Safety Instructions

  • Always ensure the appliance is unplugged from the power outlet before cleaning, assembly, or disassembly.
  • Do not immerse the base unit, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid.

4. Setup

  1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and labels from the steamer.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the steam baskets, rice bowl, and lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the base unit with a damp cloth.
  3. Assemble: Place the base unit on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.
  4. Fill Water Reservoir: Fill the water reservoir in the base unit with clean water up to the 'MAX' level indicated on the water level window. Do not exceed the 'MAX' line.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Prepare Food: Wash and prepare your food items. Cut larger items into smaller, uniform pieces for even cooking.
  2. Load Baskets: Place food into the steam baskets. You can use one, two, or all three baskets. For rice, use the provided rice bowl inside one of the baskets. Ensure there is space for steam to circulate.
  3. Stack Baskets: Place the loaded steam baskets onto the base unit, stacking them as desired. Place the lid on the top basket.
  4. Plug In: Connect the power cord to a suitable electrical outlet.
  5. Set Timer: Turn the control knob clockwise to set the desired steaming time (up to 60 minutes). The indicator light will illuminate, and steaming will begin.
  6. Monitor Water: Periodically check the water level indicator during steaming. If the water level drops too low, you can refill it through the side opening without interrupting the cooking process.
  7. Automatic Shut-off: The steamer will automatically turn off once the set time has elapsed or if the water reservoir runs dry. A signal sound may indicate completion.
  8. Serve: Carefully remove the lid and baskets using oven mitts, as steam and components will be hot. Serve food immediately.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your steamer.

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the steamer from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Wash Removable Parts: The steam baskets, rice bowl, and lid are dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  3. Clean Base Unit: Wipe the exterior of the base unit with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers. Never immerse the base unit in water.
  4. Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits may accumulate in the water reservoir. To descale, fill the reservoir with a mixture of equal parts water and white vinegar.
