3. Setup

3.1 Power Supply

The PSR-E263 can be powered using the included AC power adapter or six "AA" size batteries (not included).

Using the AC Power Adapter:

  1. Connect the DC plug of the AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel of the keyboard.
  2. Plug the AC power adapter into a standard wall outlet.

Using Batteries:

  1. Ensure the keyboard is turned off.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the keyboard.
  3. Insert six new "AA" alkaline or rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Remove batteries if the instrument will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

3.2 Connecting Headphones

To practice privately, connect a pair of headphones (3.5mm stereo mini-plug) to the PHONES/OUTPUT jack on the rear panel. This will mute the internal speakers.

3.3 Connecting an External Audio Source (AUX IN)

You can connect an external audio player (e.g., smartphone, MP3 player) to the AUX IN jack (3.5mm stereo mini-plug) to play along with your favorite music. Adjust the volume of the external device as needed.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Power On/Off and Volume

  • To turn on the keyboard, press the [POWER] button.
  • To turn off the keyboard, press and hold the [POWER] button until the display turns off.
  • Adjust the overall volume using the MASTER VOLUME knob.

4.2 Selecting Voices

The PSR-E263 features 400 high-quality Voices, including pianos, guitars, drums, and more.

  1. Press the [VOICE] button.
  2. Use the number pad or the [+] / [-] buttons to select a Voice number.
  3. Refer to the Voice List in the supplementary materials for a complete list of available Voices.

4.3 Using Auto Accompaniment Styles

The keyboard offers 130 auto accompaniment Styles to provide a backing band for your playing.

  1. Press the [STYLE] button.
  2. Use the number pad or the [+] / [-] buttons to select a Style number.
  3. Press [START/STOP] to begin the accompaniment.
  4. Play chords with your left hand in the accompaniment section of the keyboard to control the Style's harmony.
  5. Adjust the Style volume using the [ACCOMPANIMENT VOLUME] buttons.

4.4 Lesson Function (Yamaha Education Suite)

The Yamaha Education Suite (Y.E.S.) provides nine-step lesson functions to help beginners learn to play the 112 built-in songs.

  1. Press the [SONG] button and select a song.
  2. Press one of the [LESSON] buttons (LEFT, RIGHT, BOTH) to choose which hand's part you want to practice.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts and wait for the correct notes to be played.

4.5 Recording Function

You can record your performances on the PSR-E263.

  1. Press the [REC] button. The REC indicator will flash.
  2. Begin playing. The recording will start automatically when you play the first note.
  3. Press [START/STOP] to stop recording.
  4. To play back your recording, press the [PLAY] button.

4.6 Duo Mode

Duo Mode splits the keyboard into two identical halves, each with its own middle C. This is ideal for two people to play together or for a teacher to demonstrate to a student.

  • To activate/deactivate Duo Mode, refer to the detailed instructions in the main owner's manual, typically found under a dedicated function button or menu setting.

4.7 Master EQ / Ultra Wide Stereo

These features enhance the overall sound quality.

  • Master EQ: Adjusts the overall tonal balance of the sound.

5. Maintenance
