3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Auxiliary Handle
The auxiliary handle provides additional control and stability during operation. To attach:
- Loosen the auxiliary handle by rotating it counter-clockwise.
- Slide the handle over the chuck and onto the front collar of the drill.
- Adjust the handle to a comfortable and secure position.
- Tighten the handle by rotating it clockwise until it is firmly secured.
3.2 Inserting SDS-Plus Bits
The SDS-Plus chuck allows for quick and tool-free bit changes.
- Clean the shank of the drill bit or chisel before insertion.
- Pull back the chuck collar on the front of the tool.
- Insert the SDS-Plus bit into the chuck until it clicks into place.
- Release the chuck collar. Pull on the bit to ensure it is securely locked. A slight axial play is normal for SDS-Plus systems.
- To remove, pull back the chuck collar and pull the bit out.
3.3 Setting the Depth Stop
The depth stop allows for precise drilling depth control.
- Insert the depth stop rod into the hole on the auxiliary handle.
- Adjust the rod to the desired drilling depth, measuring from the tip of the drill bit.
- Tighten the auxiliary handle to secure the depth stop in place.
4. Operating Instructions
The DH1300Plus offers four distinct operating modes, selected via the mode selector switch.
4.1 Mode Selection
- Drilling Mode (Rotary Only): For drilling in wood, metal, and plastic. The hammer action is disengaged.
- Hammer Drilling Mode (Rotary with Hammer): For drilling in concrete, masonry, and stone. Both rotation and hammer action are active.
- Chiseling Mode (Hammer Only - Fixed Chisel): For light chiseling and demolition work where the chisel position needs to be fixed. Rotation is disengaged.
- Chiseling Mode (Hammer Only - Free Chisel): For chiseling and demolition work where the chisel can rotate freely for optimal positioning. Rotation is disengaged.
To change modes, rotate the mode selector switch to the desired icon. Ensure the tool is unplugged when changing modes to prevent accidental activation.
4.2 Power On/Off and Speed Control
- To start the tool, press the trigger switch.
- The tool features variable speed control. Pressing the trigger further increases the speed/impact rate.
- To stop the tool, release the trigger switch.
- For continuous operation, press the trigger and then press the lock-on button. To release, press the trigger again.
4.3 General Operation Tips
- Always hold the tool firmly with both hands, using the main handle and the auxiliary handle.
- Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the tool, let the tool do the work.
- For hammer drilling, allow the hammer action to work effectively; excessive pressure will not increase drilling speed but may reduce tool life.
- When drilling into hard materials, periodically withdraw the bit to clear dust and debris from the hole.
- Avoid prolonged continuous operation to prevent overheating. Allow the tool to cool down if it becomes excessively warm.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DH1300Plus Hammer Drill.
5.1 Cleaning
- After each use, clean the tool housing with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Regularly clean the ventilation slots to prevent motor overheating. Use compressed air if necessary.
- Keep the SDS-Plus chuck clean and free of dust and debris. Apply a small amount of grease to the SDS-Plus bit shank before insertion to reduce wear.
5.2 Storage
- Store the tool in its original transport case in a dry, secure place, out of reach of children.
- Protect the tool from moisture and direct sunlight.
5.3 Carbon Brushes
The carbon brushes are wear parts. If the motor sparks excessively or the tool stops working, the carbon brushes may need replacement. This should be performed by a qualified service technician.
