Mounting the Transceiver

Use the provided mounting bracket and screws to secure the transceiver in a suitable location within your vehicle. Ensure the location allows for proper ventilation and easy access to controls and the microphone.

Power Connection

Connect the car power cable to the transceiver and then to your vehicle's 12-13.8V DC power source. It is recommended to connect directly to the vehicle's battery or a fused accessory circuit capable of supplying at least 5A. Ensure the connection is secure to prevent power interruptions.

Antenna Connection

Attach the quad band antenna to the antenna connector on the rear of the transceiver. Position the antenna for optimal signal reception and transmission, typically on the roof or trunk of the vehicle. The included high-gain quad band antenna is designed for stable signals across frequencies.

Fuse Replacement

A spare fuse is included with your package. If the radio fails to power on, check the fuse in the power cable. Replace it with the spare fuse if it is blown. Always use a fuse of the correct rating (5A).

Troubleshooting

  • Radio does not power on:
    • Check power cable connections.
    • Verify the vehicle's power source is active.
    • Inspect and replace the fuse if blown.
  • Poor reception or transmission:
    • Ensure the antenna is securely connected and properly positioned.
    • Verify the antenna is suitable for the operating frequencies.
    • Check for obstructions or interference sources.
    • Adjust squelch level if receiving weak signals.
  • Interference (Intermod):
    • If experiencing intermodulation distortion, especially near strong signal sources, try adjusting the squelch or relocating the radio.
    • Keep the DB25 Pro at least 5 meters away from other receivers to prevent interference.
  • Programming issues:
    • Ensure the correct programming software and drivers are installed from the Radioddity website.
    • For Chirp, select "Radioddity" and model "QB25".
    • Temporarily disable antivirus software if it interferes with driver or software installation.
    • Verify the programming cable is correctly connected.
  • Radio overheats:
    • Ensure the radio is in a well-ventilated area.
    • Confirm the cooling fan is operating when the radio is warm (above 45°C).
