6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sewing machine.
6.1 Cleaning
Turn off and unplug the machine before cleaning. Use the provided brush to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area, feed dogs, and needle plate. Periodically remove the needle plate for a more thorough cleaning of the feed dog area.
6.2 Lubrication
The JUKI HZL-DX7 is designed for minimal lubrication. Refer to the detailed instructions in the full manual for specific lubrication points and frequency, if required. Over-lubrication can attract lint and cause issues.
6.3 Needle Replacement
Replace the needle regularly, especially after 8-10 hours of sewing or if it becomes bent or dull. A fresh, sharp needle prevents skipped stitches and fabric damage.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter. For more complex problems, consult a qualified service technician.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Skipped Stitches | Incorrect needle, bent needle, improper threading. | Replace needle with correct type/size, re-thread machine correctly. |
| Thread Breakage | Incorrect tension, poor quality thread, burr on needle plate, improper threading. | Adjust tension, use quality thread, check for burrs, re-thread. |
| Uneven Stitches / Puckering | Incorrect tension, wrong presser foot pressure, fabric not feeding smoothly. | Adjust tension, adjust presser foot pressure, use walking foot for difficult fabrics. |
