1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

4. Setup and Installation

Before proceeding with the installation, ensure your computer case is compatible with ATX form factor power supplies and that you have sufficient space for cable management.

4.1 Physical Installation

1. Prepare the Case: Turn off and unplug your computer. Open the side panel of your computer case.
2. Mount the PSU: Carefully slide the Chieftec BDF-1000C PSU into the designated power supply bay in your computer case. Ensure the fan is facing the correct direction for optimal airflow (usually facing down if there's a bottom vent, or up if there isn't). Secure the PSU to the case using the provided mounting screws.
3. Connect Modular Cables: Identify the necessary modular cables for your system components.
   • ATX 24-pin: Connect to the motherboard's main power connector.
   • CPU 4+4-pin (EPS12V): Connect to the motherboard's CPU power connector. Modern motherboards may require an 8-pin or two 4-pin connectors.

4. Cable Management: Route the cables neatly to ensure proper airflow within the case.
5. Close Case: Once all connections are secure, close the computer case.
6. Connect AC Power: Plug the AC power cord into the PSU's power inlet and then into a wall outlet or surge protector.

5. Operating Instructions

1. Power On: Ensure all connections are secure and the AC power cord is plugged in. Flip the power switch on the back of the PSU to the "ON" (I) position.
2. System Start-up: Press the power button on your computer case. The PSU fan should begin to spin, and your system should initiate the boot process.
3. Normal Operation: The Chieftec BDF-1000C PSU is designed for continuous operation. Its fan will adjust speed based on temperature and load to maintain optimal cooling and noise levels.
4. Power Off: To shut down your system, use the operating system's shutdown procedure. For a complete power cycle, also flip the PSU's power switch to the "OFF" (O) position and unplug the AC power cord.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the PSU and its fan grille to prevent dust buildup, which can impede airflow and reduce cooling efficiency. Use a can of compressed air to gently blow dust out of the fan and vents. Always disconnect the AC power cord before cleaning.
• Environment: Ensure the PSU operates in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated environment. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity.
• No User Serviceable Parts: Do not attempt to open or repair the PSU. Any internal repairs should only be performed by authorized service personnel.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Chieftec BDF-1000C PSU, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

• No Power:
  • Check if the AC power cord is securely plugged into both the PSU and the wall outlet.
  • Ensure the power switch on the back of the PSU is in the "ON" (I) position.
