1. Remote ON/OFF Control
The remote ON/OFF control function allows the power supply to be switched on or off remotely. This function is available by applying voltage in CN1 & CN2 & CN3.
Refer to the table below for the specification of the Remote ON/OFF function:
| Connection Method | Fig. 1.2(A) | Fig. 1.2(B) | Fig. 1.2(C) |
|---|---|---|---|
| SW Logic | Output on | SW Open | SW Close |
| Output off | SW Close | SW Open |
Figure 6 illustrates examples of connecting the remote ON/OFF control:

Figure 6: Remote ON/OFF control diagrams, including external voltage source and internal 12V auxiliary output connections.
2. Alarm Signal Output
The alarm signal is sent out through "P.OK" & "P.OK GND" pins. This signal indicates the operational status of the power supply. The maximum applied voltage is 30V and the maximum sink current is 10mA.
Table 2.1 explains the alarm function built-in the power supply:
| Function | Description | Output of alarm (P.OK) |
|---|---|---|
| P.OK | The signal is "Low" when the power supply is above 95% of the rated output voltage. (over 0.9) | Low (0.5V max at 10mA) |
| The signal will be "High" when the power supply is under 85% of the rated output voltage-Power Fail | High or open (External applied voltage 30Vdc max.) |
Figure 7 shows the internal circuit of P.OK (open collector method):

Figure 7: Internal circuit of P.OK (top-right) and external voltage control characteristics (bottom-left).
3. External Voltage Control
The output voltage can be controlled externally via the PV terminal. The reference voltage terminal (PS) and PV are connected when shipping. For external control, connect +S & +V, -S & -V also need to be connected on CN1 or CN2.
Refer to Figure 7 for the output voltage vs. external control voltage characteristics.
4. Current Sharing
The current sharing function allows multiple power supplies to operate in parallel to increase the total output power. This function is available by connecting the units as shown in Figure 8.
- Parallel operation is possible by connecting the units as shown in Figure 8.
- The voltage difference among each output should be minimized (less than 0.2V) for optimal current sharing.
- The total output current must not exceed the value determined by the following equation: (Output current in parallel operation) = The unit rated current × (Number of units) × 0.9.
- In parallel operation, up to 3 units can be used. Please consult the manufacturer for other applications.
- When remote sensing is used in parallel operation, the sensing wire must be connected only to the master unit.
- Note: In parallel connection, maybe only one unit (master) operates if the total output load is less than 5% of rated load condition. The other PSUs (slaves) may go into standby mode and their output LEDs will not turn on.
- Under parallel operation, the "output voltage trim" function is not available.

Maintenance
The MEAN WELL SPV-1500-24 power supply is designed for long-term reliability with minimal maintenance. However, adhering to the following guidelines can help ensure optimal performance and longevity:
- Cleaning: Periodically inspect the unit for dust accumulation, especially around the fan and ventilation openings. Use a soft brush or compressed air to gently remove dust. Ensure the power supply is disconnected from all power sources before cleaning.
- Ventilation: Ensure that the power supply has adequate airflow and that its ventilation openings are not obstructed. Operating the unit in a well-ventilated area helps prevent overheating.
- Connections: Periodically check all input and output connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to poor performance or safety hazards.
- Environmental Conditions: Operate the power supply within its specified temperature and humidity ranges to prevent damage. Avoid exposure to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
- No User-Serviceable Parts: Do not attempt to open the power supply casing. There are no user-serviceable components inside, and opening the unit may void the warranty and expose you to dangerous voltages.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your MEAN WELL SPV-1500-24 power supply, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Output Power:
- Check if the AC input power cord is securely connected and the power source is active.
- Verify the input voltage is within the specified range (90-264VAC).
- Ensure the remote ON/OFF control is correctly configured and not inhibiting output.
- Check for tripped circuit breakers or blown fuses in the input line.
- Output Voltage Incorrect:
- Confirm that the external voltage control (PV terminal) is set correctly or disconnected if not in use.
- Check the load connected to the power supply. An excessive load can cause voltage drop.
- Verify that the remote sensing wires (+S, -S) are correctly connected to the load if used.
- Overload/Over-current Protection Triggered:
- Reduce the load connected to the power supply. The unit will automatically recover once the overload condition is removed.
- Ensure the total current draw does not exceed the rated 63A.
- Over-temperature Protection Triggered:
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the power supply. Clear any obstructions blocking the fan or vents.
- Verify the ambient operating temperature is within the specified range (-20°C to +70°C).
- Allow the unit to cool down. It will automatically recover once the temperature returns to a safe level.
- Alarm Signal (P.OK) Indication:
- If the P.OK signal is "High" or open, it indicates the output voltage is under 85% of the rated value (Power Fail). Check input power and load conditions.
- If the P.OK signal is "Low", the output voltage is above 95% of the rated value, indicating normal operation.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, please contact MEAN WELL technical support or your authorized dealer for assistance.
