  • Keep the keypad out of reach of children.
  • Only operate the garage door when it is in full view and free of obstructions.
  • Ensure the garage door is fully closed before leaving the premises.
  • Disconnect power to the garage door opener before performing any maintenance or repairs on the opener itself.

Setup and Installation

Package Contents

Verify that your package contains the following items:

  • Liftmaster 877max Wireless Keyless Entry Keypad

  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

Mounting the Keypad

Choose a convenient location outside your garage, at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) above the ground, and away from moving parts of the garage door.

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Mark the locations for the two mounting screws through the holes provided on the back of the keypad.
  3. Drill pilot holes if necessary.

Programming Your Keypad

The 877max keypad can be programmed to operate one or more garage door openers. The programming steps depend on the color of the "Learn" button on your garage door opener.

General Programming Steps (Refer to your opener's manual for specific "Learn" button location):

  1. Locate the "Learn" button on your garage door opener. This button is usually on the back or side panel of the motor unit. The color of the button (yellow, purple, red/orange, green) indicates the type of technology.
  2. Press and immediately release the "Learn" button. The learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds. Within this 30-second window, you must complete the next step.
  3. On the 877max keypad, enter a 4-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) of your choice.
  4. Press and hold the "ENTER/" button on the keypad.
  5. Release the "ENTER/" button when the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard. This indicates successful programming.
  6. Test the keypad: Enter your PIN and press "ENTER/". The garage door should operate.

Note: If your garage door opener has a yellow "Learn" button, you may need to press the "ENTER/" button twice after entering your PIN. Consult your opener's manual for specific instructions.

Operation

To operate your garage door using the Liftmaster 877max keypad:

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Enter your programmed 4-digit PIN.
  3. Press the "ENTER/" button.

The garage door will activate (open or close). If the door is already open, it will close. If it is closed, it will open.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the keypad lights dim or the keypad becomes unresponsive, it is time to replace the 9V battery.

  1. Open the keypad cover.
  2. Remove the old 9V battery from its compartment.
  3. Insert a new 9V battery, observing correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

Note: Replacing the battery does not erase your programmed PIN.

Cleaning

Wipe the keypad surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
