5. Maintenance

5.1 Battery Care

  • Always use the provided rechargeable AAA batteries.
  • Charge handsets for at least 10 hours before first use.
  • If the handset is not used for an extended period, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
  • Replace batteries when they no longer hold a charge effectively.

5.2 Cleaning

  • Clean the telephone and charging contacts with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
  • Do not use cleaning sprays or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the finish or electrical components.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemSolution
No dial tone.
  • Ensure the base unit's power adapter is securely plugged into an electrical outlet and the telephone line cord is connected to a wall jack.
  • Check if the telephone line cord is damaged.
  • Test with another phone to confirm the wall jack is working.
Cannot make or receive calls.
  • Ensure batteries are charged.
  • Verify the base unit is powered and connected to the telephone line.
  • If using Smart Call Blocker, ensure the number is not on the block list or is on the allow list.
Poor audio quality or static.
  • Move closer to the base unit.
  • Avoid placing the base unit near other electronic devices (e.g., microwaves, Wi-Fi routers) that may cause interference.
  • Check for physical obstructions between the handset and base.
Answering machine not recording messages.
  • Ensure the answering system is turned ON.
  • Check if the memory is full; delete old messages.
  • If you have a voicemail service from your telephone provider, ensure the number of rings on your AT&T phone is set lower than your provider's voicemail pickup setting. This allows the phone's answering system to answer first.
