5. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Marantz SR5012, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
5.1 No Power
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into both the receiver and a working wall outlet.
- Check if the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- Verify that the main power switch (if present) on the rear panel is in the ON position.
5.2 No Sound or Distorted Audio
- Confirm that the correct input source is selected on the receiver.
- Check all speaker wire connections for proper polarity and secure attachment.
- Ensure the volume is not set to minimum or muted.
- Verify that the audio output settings on your source device (e.g., TV, Blu-ray player) are correctly configured to send audio to the receiver.
- Run the Audyssey MultEQ XT calibration again to optimize speaker settings for your room.
5.3 No Video or Poor Video Quality
- Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected between the source device, receiver, and TV/projector.
- Try using different HDMI cables, especially certified high-speed HDMI cables for 4K/HDR content.
- Verify that the correct HDMI input is selected on both the receiver and your TV.
- Check the video output settings on your source device to ensure compatibility with the receiver and TV (e.g., 4K, HDR).
- Some users have reported intermittent video issues with certain TV models; ensure all devices have the latest firmware.
5.4 Unit Runs Hot
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the receiver. Do not place it in an enclosed cabinet without proper airflow.
- Avoid stacking other components directly on top of the receiver.
- While Class A-B amplifiers can naturally run warm, excessive heat may indicate poor ventilation. Consider using external cooling fans if necessary.
5.5 Network Connectivity Issues
- Check your router and internet connection.
- Ensure the receiver is within range of your Wi-Fi network or that the Ethernet cable is securely connected.
- Restart your router, modem, and the receiver.
