3. Safety Precautions
- This system must be installed in a dry indoor environment away from heat sources.
- This system is only suitable for municipal tap water and well water within the temperature range of 40°F - 100°F.
- Do not allow wastewater or corrosive liquids to pass through the filter.
- The filter must be installed upright.
- Be sure the water flow direction marked on the valve body is the same as the direction of water flow within the pipeline.
- The installation location must provide reliable drainage.
- The unit comes with two types of threads on both ends: 1-inch Male NPT and 3/4-inch Female NPT.
4. Installation Guide
Follow these steps for proper installation of your iSpring WSP-50 filter:
- Shut off Main Water Supply: Turn off the main water line to your house. Open the nearest faucet to drain out water and release pressure from the pipes.
- Select Location and Cut Pipe: Choose a suitable location for the filter on your cold water line, ideally before other major appliances or filtration systems. Measure and cut the water inlet pipe. Use a bucket to catch any remaining water.
- Apply Plumber's Tape and Connectors: Apply plumber's tape evenly on the machine head threads. Screw the appropriate connectors (1-inch MNPT or 3/4-inch FNPT) to the threads and tighten them with a wrench.
- Mount Filter: Mount the bracket on the wall and install the filter to the pipeline. Ensure the water flow direction arrow on the machine head matches the direction of water flow within your pipeline.
- Connect Drain Line: Connect a drain hose (not included) to the drain connector at the bottom of the filter. Ensure the drain pipe or drain hole can drain freely.
- Turn on Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water line. Check for any leaks and ensure the filter is working properly.

5. Operation
The iSpring WSP-50 filter operates continuously once installed. Water flows through the filter mesh, trapping sediment and particles. The clear housing allows for visual monitoring of the filter's condition.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your iSpring WSP-50 filter.
6.1 Manual Flushing
Flushing the filter at least once every week is recommended. Be sure the drain pipe or drain can drain freely.
- Switch the drain valve to the vertical position to flush. Let the water drain for a few seconds until clear.
- Switch the drain valve back to the horizontal position to close.
6.2 Filter Mesh Cleaning/Replacement
The stainless steel mesh filter screen usually lasts 1-2 years, but may require more frequent cleaning depending on water quality.
- Shut off the main water supply and open the nearest faucet to drain water and release pressure.
- Unscrew the filter housing counterclockwise using the included housing wrench. Use a bucket to catch any remaining water.
- Remove the filter mesh. Clean it with a brush and/or soak it in vinegar to remove stubborn deposits.
- Reinstall the cleaned filter mesh into the housing. Carefully line up the filter housing with the machine head and turn it clockwise to screw on the housing. Tighten it with the housing wrench.
- Slowly turn on the main water line and check for leaks.
7. Troubleshooting
Here are some common issues and solutions for your iSpring WSP-50 filter:
- Low Water Pressure: This is often caused by a clogged filter mesh. Perform a manual flush. If pressure remains low, remove and clean the filter mesh thoroughly. If the issue persists, check for kinks in your water lines or issues with your main water supply.
- Leaks: Ensure all connections are tight and plumber's tape is applied correctly. Check the O-ring for any damage or improper seating. Replace the O-ring if necessary.
- Excessive Sediment Accumulation: If the filter clogs very quickly (e.g., daily or weekly), your water may have extremely high sediment content. Consider increasing the flushing frequency or consulting iSpring for a larger micron screen replacement (e.g., 100 micron or higher) or a larger spin-down filter model.
- Unusual Taste/Odor (after initial installation): A slight taste or odor can sometimes occur with new filters. Flush the system for an extended period (e.g., 10-15 minutes) to clear any manufacturing residues. If it persists, ensure no corrosive liquids have passed through the filter.
