2. Setup and Assembly

2.1 Attaching the Sanding Belt

The WEN 6307 sander features a tool-free belt changing system. To install or replace a sanding belt:

1. Ensure the sander is unplugged from the power source.
2. Locate the belt release mechanism, typically a lever or button that disengages belt tension.
3. Press the release mechanism to loosen the belt and remove the old belt if applicable.
4. Slide the new 1/2-by-18-inch sanding belt onto the rollers, ensuring the directional arrow on the belt matches the rotation direction indicated on the sander.
5. Release the tension mechanism to secure the new belt. The auto-tracking system will align the belt automatically during operation.

2.2 Adjusting the Head Angle

The sander head can pivot up to 55 degrees to access various angles and contours.

1. Locate the orange knob or lever on the side of the sander's head.
2. Loosen this knob to allow the head to pivot.
3. Adjust the head to the desired angle.

4. To turn the sander off, press the power switch again.

3.2 Sanding Techniques

Hold the sander firmly with both hands. Apply light, even pressure to the workpiece. Move the sander smoothly and consistently across the surface to achieve an even finish. Avoid excessive pressure, which can lead to uneven sanding, belt wear, or motor strain.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Cleaning

Regularly clean the sander to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Unplug the tool before cleaning.

• Wipe down the exterior of the sander with a clean, damp cloth.
• Clear any dust or debris from the ventilation slots to prevent overheating.
• Inspect the sanding belt and rollers for wear or damage. Replace belts as needed.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Sander Not Powering On

• Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a functional outlet.

5.2 Belt Slipping or Not Tracking Properly

• Ensure the sanding belt is correctly installed and tensioned (refer to section 2.1).

• Check if the belt is the correct size (1/2-by-18 inches).

5.3 Excessive Heat During Operation
