Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse.
- Slide the battery compartment cover off.
- Insert the included AA battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Replace the battery compartment cover.

2. Connecting Your Mouse
The M585 mouse offers two connection options: Logitech Unifying Receiver (2.4 GHz wireless) or Bluetooth Low Energy.
Option A: Using the Logitech Unifying Receiver
- Remove the USB Unifying Receiver from the battery compartment of the mouse.
- Plug the Unifying Receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
- Turn on the mouse using the ON/OFF switch on the bottom.
- The mouse should automatically connect. If not, download and install Logitech Options software from logitech.com/options to complete the pairing process.
Option B: Using Bluetooth Low Energy
- Turn on the mouse using the ON/OFF switch on the bottom.
- Press and hold the Easy-Switch button (located below the scroll wheel) for 3 seconds until the LED indicator starts blinking rapidly. This puts the mouse in pairing mode.
- On your computer, open Bluetooth settings:
- Windows: Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices. Click "Add Bluetooth or other device" and select "Bluetooth".
- macOS: Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Bluetooth.
- Select "Logitech M585" from the list of available devices and follow the on-screen prompts to complete pairing.
3. Logitech FLOW Setup (Optional)
Logitech FLOW allows you to seamlessly control multiple computers with a single M585 mouse and copy-paste text, images, and files between them.
- Ensure both computers are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).
- Download and install Logitech Options software on both computers from logitech.com/options.
- Open Logitech Options on both computers and navigate to the "FLOW" tab.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable and configure FLOW. You can arrange your computer screens virtually to match their physical layout.
Operating Your Mouse
Basic Functions
- Left Click: Primary selection and activation.
- Right Click: Opens context menus.
- Scroll Wheel: Scrolls vertically. Pressing the scroll wheel acts as a middle click.
- Tilt Scroll: Tilt the scroll wheel left or right for horizontal scrolling (requires Logitech Options software).
Programmable Buttons
The M585 features five programmable buttons, including two thumb buttons and the middle click button. These can be customized using Logitech Options software.

- Thumb Buttons: By default, these act as Forward/Back buttons in web browsers. Customize them for other functions like copy, paste, or application switching.
- Middle Click: Can be assigned to open new tabs, close tabs, or other functions.
Switching Between Devices
Use the Easy-Switch button (labeled 1 and 2) located below the scroll wheel to switch between connected computers. The LED indicator will light up next to the number corresponding to the active device.
- Press the Easy-Switch button once to cycle to the next paired device.
- The LED will briefly illuminate to indicate which channel is active.
Maintenance
Cleaning Your Mouse
To ensure optimal performance, periodically clean your mouse.
- Turn off the mouse before cleaning.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or an alcohol-based cleaner (avoid harsh chemicals).
- Gently wipe the surface of the mouse.
- Use a cotton swab or compressed air to clean around the scroll wheel and buttons.
Battery Replacement
The M585 mouse has an approximate battery life of 2 years. When the battery is low, the LED indicator on the mouse may blink red. Replace the AA battery as described in the "Battery Installation" section.
