3.1 Battery Installation and Removal

The DCS367NT-XJ operates with DEWALT 18V XR Li-Ion battery packs. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.

1. To install the battery: Align the battery pack with the receptacle on the tool handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
2. To remove the battery: Press the battery release button (usually located on the battery pack) and pull the battery pack out of the tool handle.

3.2 Blade Installation and Removal

Always ensure the battery pack is removed before installing or removing a blade.

1. To install a blade: Locate the blade release lever on the side of the saw head. Rotate the lever fully counter-clockwise. Insert the blade shank into the blade clamp until it bottoms out. Release the lever to lock the blade in place. Tug on the blade to ensure it is securely seated.
2. To remove a blade: Rotate the blade release lever fully counter-clockwise. The blade will be released. Carefully remove the blade, especially if it is hot from use.

3.3 Adjusting the Shoe

The adjustable shoe allows for depth control and extends blade life by utilizing different sections of the blade. To adjust the shoe, loosen the shoe adjustment mechanism (if present on your model, typically a lever or button), slide the shoe to the desired position, and then secure it firmly.

4.1 Starting and Stopping

The saw is equipped with a variable speed trigger switch and a lock-off button for safety.

1. To start: Press the lock-off button (if present) and then depress the trigger switch. The speed of the blade is controlled by how far the trigger is depressed.
2. To stop: Release the trigger switch.

4.2 Cutting Techniques

Always ensure the workpiece is securely clamped or held to prevent movement during cutting.

• General Cutting: Place the shoe firmly against the workpiece. Depress the trigger to start the saw, allowing it to reach full speed before engaging the blade with the material. Apply steady, even pressure.
• Plunge Cutting: For plunge cuts into wood, position the saw with the shoe resting on the workpiece and the blade clear of the material. Start the saw, then slowly pivot the saw downwards, allowing the blade to cut into the material.
• Metal Cutting: Use appropriate metal-cutting blades. Apply cutting oil or coolant to prolong blade life and improve cutting performance. Maintain a moderate speed and steady pressure.
• Plastic Cutting: Use blades designed for plastic. Be aware that some plastics may melt if the blade speed is too high.
