  6. Relocate: Unplug the repeater and move it to an optimal location between your router and the area where you need extended Wi-Fi coverage. Plug it into a power outlet and wait for the signal strength LEDs to light up, indicating a good connection.

4.2. Web Browser Method

  1. Power On: Plug the Digicom WEX300-J2 into a power outlet.
  2. Connect to Repeater's Wi-Fi: On your computer or mobile device, connect to the repeater's default Wi-Fi network (e.g., "Digicom_Extender" or similar, check the label on the device). No password is required initially.
  3. Access Web Interface: Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) and enter the default IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.254 or repeater.local) in the address bar.
  4. Log In: Enter the default username and password (commonly admin/admin or check the device label/manual for specific credentials).
  5. Follow Wizard: Follow the on-screen setup wizard. It will scan for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your main Wi-Fi network from the list.
  6. Enter Password: Enter the password for your main Wi-Fi network.
  7. Configure Repeater SSID: You may choose to keep the same network name (SSID) as your main router or create a new one for the extended network (e.g., "MyHome_EXT").
  8. Save and Restart: Save the settings. The repeater will restart.
  9. Relocate: Unplug the repeater and move it to an optimal location between your router and the area needing coverage. Plug it in and wait for the signal strength LEDs to confirm a good connection.

5. Operating Modes

The Digicom WEX300-J2 typically supports the following operating modes:

  • Repeater Mode: This is the default mode, extending the range of an existing Wi-Fi network. The repeater connects wirelessly to your main router and re-broadcasts the signal.
  • Access Point (AP) Mode: In this mode, the repeater connects to your wired network (e.g., via an Ethernet cable to your router or modem) and broadcasts a new Wi-Fi signal. This effectively turns a wired connection into a wireless hotspot.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Digicom WEX300-J2 Network Repeater, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Placement: Place the device in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
  • Cleaning: Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the official Digicom website for any available firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve performance and security.
  • Avoid Obstructions: Ensure there are no major physical obstructions (e.g., thick walls, metal objects) between the repeater and your main router, or between the repeater and your client devices.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Digicom WEX300-J2, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Power:
Ensure the repeater is securely plugged into a working power outlet. Try a different outlet.
  • Cannot Connect to Repeater's Wi-Fi:
Verify that you are selecting the correct Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and entering the correct password. If you changed the SSID during setup, ensure you are connecting to the new one.
  • No Internet Access Through Repeater:
Check the connection between the repeater and your main router. The signal strength LEDs on the repeater should indicate a good connection. Ensure your main router has active internet access. Try relocating the repeater closer to the main router.
  • Slow Wi-Fi Speed:
Relocate the repeater to an optimal position, ideally halfway between your main router and the area experiencing poor signal. Minimize interference from other electronic devices (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones). Ensure your main router is providing adequate internet speed.
  • Resetting the Device:
If the device is unresponsive or you forget your settings, you can perform a factory reset. Locate the small reset button (usually a pinhole) on the device. With the device powered on, use a paperclip or similar pointed object to press and hold the reset button for 5-10 seconds. The device will restart with factory default settings.
