4.1 Preparing Medication

  1. Ensure your hands are clean before handling medication and the nebulizer chamber.
  2. Open the nebulization chamber and pour the prescribed amount of medication into it. Always follow your doctor's instructions regarding medication type and dosage.
  3. Securely close the nebulization chamber.

4.2 Starting Nebulization

  1. Plug the power cord of the compressor unit into a suitable electrical outlet.
  2. Press the power switch to turn on the unit. You should hear the compressor operating and see mist being generated from the nebulization chamber.
  3. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth, or fit the mask snugly over your nose and mouth.
  4. Breathe normally and deeply until all the medication has been nebulized. This typically takes 5-15 minutes, depending on the medication volume and nebulizer performance.

4.3 After Use

  1. Once nebulization is complete, turn off the power switch and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet.
  2. Disconnect the air tubing from both the compressor and the nebulization chamber.
  3. Disassemble the nebulization chamber and clean all reusable components as described in the Maintenance section.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the proper functioning and longevity of your nebulizer. Always unplug the unit before cleaning.

5.1 Cleaning the Nebulizer Kit (Chamber, Mouthpiece, Masks, Tubing)

  1. After each use, disassemble the nebulization chamber, mouthpiece, and mask.
  2. Wash these components thoroughly with warm water and a mild detergent.
  3. Rinse them completely under running water to remove all soap residue.
  4. For disinfection, soak the components in a solution of one part white vinegar to two parts distilled water for 30 minutes, or use a medical disinfectant as recommended by your physician.
  5. Rinse again with sterile water and allow them to air dry completely on a clean paper towel before storing or next use. Do not towel dry.
  6. The air tubing does not typically require cleaning unless it becomes visibly soiled. If cleaning is necessary, follow the same steps and ensure it is completely dry before reattaching.

5.2 Cleaning the Compressor Unit

  1. Wipe the exterior of the compressor unit with a clean, damp cloth.
  2. Do not immerse the compressor unit in water or spray liquids directly onto it.

5.3 Replacing the Air Filter

  1. The air filter should be checked regularly and replaced every 30 days of use, or sooner if it appears discolored or clogged.
  2. Locate the filter cap on the side of the compressor unit (refer to Figure 3.1).
  3. Remove the filter cap and pull out the old filter.
  4. Insert a new, clean air filter into the filter compartment.
  5. Replace the filter cap securely.
