3. Setup Guide

Before starting, choose an optimal location for your repeater. It should be placed within the existing Wi-Fi coverage of your main router, ideally halfway between your router and the area with weak signal. Avoid placing it near large metal objects, concrete walls, or other electronic devices that may cause interference.

3.1 Method 1: WPS Configuration (Recommended for quick setup)

  1. Plug the Metronic Wi-Fi Repeater into an electrical outlet. Wait for the Power LED to light up.
  2. Press the WPS button on your main Wi-Fi router.
  3. Within two minutes, press the WPS/Reset button on the Metronic Wi-Fi Repeater (refer to Figure 2).
  4. The Wi-Fi LED on the repeater will flash during the connection process and then turn solid when successfully connected.
  5. The repeater will now extend your existing Wi-Fi network with the same network name (SSID) and password.

3.2 Method 2: Web Browser Configuration

  1. Plug the Metronic Wi-Fi Repeater into an electrical outlet.
  2. On your computer or mobile device, connect to the repeater's default Wi-Fi network (SSID usually starts with "Wireless-N" or similar, check the label on the device). No password is required for the initial connection.
  3. Open a web browser (e.g., Chrome, Firefox) and enter the default IP address (usually 192.168.10.1 or repeater.net, check the device label or manual for exact address).
  4. Log in using the default username and password (typically admin for both).
  5. Follow the on-screen wizard to select your desired operating mode (Repeater or Access Point) and configure the network settings. For Repeater mode, select your main Wi-Fi network from the list and enter its password.
  6. Save the settings. The repeater will restart.
  7. Once restarted, the repeater will extend your Wi-Fi network. You can now connect your devices to the extended network.

4. Operation

The Metronic 495432 Wi-Fi Repeater supports two primary operating modes:

4.1 Repeater Mode

In Repeater Mode, the device wirelessly connects to your existing Wi-Fi network and re-broadcasts the signal, effectively extending its coverage. This is the most common use case for eliminating Wi-Fi dead zones. Devices connected to the repeater will use the same network name and password as your main router.

4.2 Access Point (AP) Mode

In Access Point Mode, the device connects to your main router via an Ethernet cable (using the RJ45 port). It then creates a new Wi-Fi network, converting a wired internet connection into a wireless one. This is useful for adding Wi-Fi capability to a wired-only network or creating a separate Wi-Fi network.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
  • Placement: Ensure the repeater is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and moisture.
  • Power: Always disconnect the power before cleaning or if the device will be unused for an extended period.
  • Firmware Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website for firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security.

6. Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the repeater is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet. Check if the Power LED is illuminated.
  • Cannot Connect to Repeater's Wi-Fi: Verify you are selecting the correct network name. If using web browser setup, ensure you are connecting to the repeater's default SSID.
  • No Internet Access After Setup:
    • Ensure the repeater is within range of your main router's Wi-Fi signal.
    • Verify that the Wi-Fi password entered during setup is correct.
    • Try restarting both your main router and the repeater.
  • Frequent Disconnections or Slow Speed:
    • Relocate the repeater closer to your main router or away from potential interference sources.
    • Ensure there are no physical obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) between the repeater and your devices or the main router.
    • Check for firmware updates for the repeater.
  • Forgot Login Password for Web Interface: Press and hold the WPS/Reset button for approximately 10 seconds until the LEDs flash. This will reset the repeater to factory default settings, and you can log in with the default username and password (admin/admin).
