2. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to set up your CHACON Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer.
2.1 Battery Installation
- For the Wireless Outdoor Sensor: Carefully unscrew the back cover of the sensor using a small screwdriver. Insert 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Replace the cover and secure the screw.
- For the Main Display Unit: Gently unclip the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit. Insert 2 AAA batteries, observing correct polarity. Replace the battery compartment cover.

2.2 Sensor Synchronization
After installing batteries in both units, the main display unit will automatically attempt to synchronize with the outdoor sensor. This process typically takes approximately 1 minute. Once synchronized, the outdoor temperature will appear on the main display.
- If synchronization does not occur automatically, press and hold the 'UP' button on the main unit for a few seconds to initiate manual synchronization.
2.3 Placement
- Main Display Unit: Place the main unit indoors in a location where you can easily view the display. Avoid direct sunlight or heat sources that could affect indoor temperature readings.
- Wireless Outdoor Sensor: Mount the outdoor sensor in a shaded area, protected from direct rain and sunlight, to ensure accurate temperature readings. Ensure it is within the effective transmission range of the main unit (typically up to 20 meters, depending on environmental factors and obstacles).
3. Operating Instructions
The main display unit shows indoor temperature, outdoor temperature, and the current time.
3.1 Setting the Time
Refer to the buttons on the back of the main unit (refer to Image 2.1).
- Press the 'TIME' button to enter time setting mode.
- Use the 'UP' and 'DOWN' buttons to adjust the hour and minute.
- Press 'TIME' again to confirm each setting and move to the next.
- To switch between 12-hour and 24-hour format, press the 'TIME' button while the time is displayed normally (not in setting mode).
3.2 Changing Temperature Units (°C/°F)
Press the '°C/°F' button on the back of the main unit to toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature displays.
3.3 Viewing Maximum/Minimum Temperatures
Press the 'MAX/MIN' button on the back of the main unit to view the recorded maximum and minimum indoor and outdoor temperatures since the last reset. Press again to cycle through maximum, minimum, and current temperatures. To reset the recorded maximum/minimum values, press and hold the 'MAX/MIN' button while the max/min values are displayed.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
Wipe the thermometer's surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the display or casing.
4.2 Battery Replacement
Replace batteries in both the main unit and the outdoor sensor when the display becomes dim or erratic. Always replace all batteries in a unit at the same time with new AAA batteries. Dispose of used batteries responsibly according to local regulations.
5. Troubleshooting
- No display on main unit: Check if batteries are installed correctly and are not depleted. Replace batteries if necessary.
- No outdoor temperature reading:
- Ensure the outdoor sensor batteries are correctly installed and not depleted.
- Verify the outdoor sensor is within range of the main unit and there are no significant obstructions (e.g., thick walls, metal objects) causing interference.
- Try re-synchronizing the sensor by pressing and holding the 'UP' button on the main unit.
- Avoid placing the sensor near large metal objects or electrical appliances that may cause radio interference.
- Inaccurate temperature readings:
- Ensure both the main unit and the outdoor sensor are not exposed to direct sunlight, heat sources, or extreme drafts.
- For outdoor sensor, ensure it is protected from rain and direct weather elements.
