  2. Hose Connection: Insert the flexible hose into the suction inlet on the main unit until it clicks securely into place.
  3. Wand and Nozzle Assembly: Attach the telescopic wand to the end of the flexible hose. Then, connect the desired floor nozzle or accessory tool to the end of the telescopic wand. Ensure all connections are firm.
  4. Power Cord: Extend the power cord from the automatic cord rewind mechanism. Ensure the cord is fully extended to avoid overheating.
  5. Initial Filter Check: Before first use, ensure all filters (pre-motor and post-motor) are correctly installed and clean. Refer to the Maintenance section for filter locations.

  1. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
  2. Power On/Off: Press the power button located on the main unit to turn the vacuum cleaner on. Press it again to turn off.
  3. Adjusting Suction: Some models may feature a suction control slider on the hose handle. Adjust as needed for different surfaces (e.g., lower suction for delicate fabrics, higher for hard floors).
  4. Cleaning Surfaces:
    • For carpets, use the floor nozzle with the brush setting engaged (if applicable).
    • For hard floors, use the floor nozzle with the brush setting retracted (if applicable) or a dedicated hard floor tool.
    • Use crevice tool for tight spaces and upholstery tool for furniture.
  5. Automatic Cord Rewind: After use, unplug the vacuum cleaner from the wall outlet. Press the cord rewind button (usually located near the power button) to automatically retract the power cord. Guide the cord to prevent tangling.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your vacuum cleaner.

Emptying the Dirt Canister:

  1. Ensure the vacuum cleaner is unplugged.
  2. Locate the dirt canister release button (often on the top or side of the canister). Press it to detach the canister from the main unit.
  3. Position the canister over a waste bin. Locate the bottom release latch and open the canister to empty its contents.
  4. Close the bottom latch securely and reattach the canister to the vacuum cleaner until it clicks into place.

Cleaning Filters:

Your Bennett Read Zoom Vacuum Cleaner features a multi-stage filtration system. Filters should be cleaned regularly, typically after every 3-5 uses, or when suction power noticeably decreases.

  1. Pre-Motor Filter: This filter is usually located inside or near the dirt canister. Remove it and tap off loose dirt over a bin. If washable, rinse under cold water until water runs clear. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use a dryer or heat.
  2. Post-Motor Filter (HEPA-type): This filter is typically located at the rear or side of the vacuum cleaner. Check your specific model for its location. These filters are often not washable and should be tapped clean. Replace if heavily soiled or damaged.
  3. Ensure all filters are completely dry before reassembling the vacuum cleaner to prevent damage to the motor.

General Cleaning:

  • Wipe the exterior of the vacuum cleaner with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Check the floor nozzle for tangled hair or debris and remove as necessary.
