3.2. Camera Connection
The NVR features PoE ports for direct connection of IP cameras. It is recommended to use Amcrest IP cameras for full compatibility. Limited compatibility with third-party ONVIF compliant IP cameras is available.
- Connect your PoE IP cameras directly to the NVR's PoE ports using Ethernet cables.
- The NVR will automatically power and detect the cameras.
- For non-PoE cameras or cameras on a separate network, ensure they are connected to the same local network as the NVR. The NVR can locate and add these cameras.
3.3. Initial Configuration
Upon first boot, follow the on-screen wizard to set up basic NVR settings, including date/time, network configuration, and hard drive initialization.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Live View and Playback
Access live camera feeds and recorded footage through the connected monitor, the Amcrest View app, or a web browser.
- Local Monitor: Use the USB mouse to navigate the NVR's interface for live viewing, playback, and system settings.
- Amcrest View App: Download the "Amcrest View" app from the App Store or Google Play. Scan the QR code on the NVR to instantly add your device for live viewing and playback on your smartphone or tablet.
- Web Browser: Access the NVR by typing its IP address into a standard web browser on your Mac or PC.

6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Amcrest NVR.
6.1. Camera Not Detected/Recording
- Check Cable Connections: Ensure Ethernet cables are securely connected to both the camera and the NVR's PoE port.
- Power Cycle: Disconnect and reconnect the camera's power, or reboot the NVR.
- Camera Compatibility: Verify that the camera is an Amcrest IP camera or a compatible ONVIF third-party camera. For third-party cameras, ensure ONVIF is enabled and the camera's IP address is discoverable on the network.
- NVR Reboot Timing: If cameras fail to reconnect after a scheduled NVR reboot, adjust the reboot schedule or camera restart sequence to ensure cameras are fully online before the NVR attempts to connect.
6.2. Video Freezing/Stuttering at Higher Resolutions
- Bandwidth Limitations: The NVR has a maximum incoming bandwidth of 80Mbps. If you are using multiple high-resolution cameras, the combined bitrate might exceed this limit.
- Adjust Camera Resolution: Reduce the resolution or bitrate of individual cameras to alleviate bandwidth strain. For example, if using 4MP cameras, try lowering them to 1080p if experiencing issues.
- Network Congestion: Ensure your network is not overloaded by other devices.
6.3. Remote Access Issues
- Network Connection: Verify the NVR is connected to the internet.
- App/Browser Version: Ensure your Amcrest View app or web browser is up to date.
- Port Forwarding: If direct access is configured, ensure necessary ports are forwarded correctly on your router.
