MONZANA® Pressure Switch Water Pump Instruction Manual

Model: Qsweet

1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your MONZANA® Pressure Switch Water Pump. Please read this manual thoroughly before use and keep it for future reference.

The MONZANA® pressure monitor ensures constant water pressure for garden irrigation or domestic water supply. The line pressure in the connected system is monitored by the pressure switch. The water pump is automatically started and stopped depending on the opening and closing of the consumer.

2. Safety Information

Attention! Observe instructions. Warning of general danger. Choking hazard. Keep small parts and packaging away from children.

Always disconnect the power supply before performing any installation, maintenance, or troubleshooting. Ensure all electrical connections are made by qualified personnel, especially for models without pre-installed cables.

Do not operate the device if it is damaged or if the cables are frayed. Protect the device from frost and extreme temperatures.

3. Product Overview

The MONZANA® Pressure Switch is designed to regulate water pressure in pumping systems, providing reliable and consistent water flow.

5. Installation and Setup

The MONZANA pressure monitor can be quickly and easily mounted via the connection thread. It is important that the device is installed vertically in the direction of flow.

  1. Mounting Position: Install the pressure switch vertically in the direction of water flow. Ensure the arrow on the device aligns with the flow direction.
  2. Water Connections: Connect the 1" external thread to your water pump's outlet and the system's inlet. Use appropriate sealing tape (e.g., PTFE tape) to ensure watertight connections.
  3. Electrical Connection:
    • For models with cable: Connect the plug to a suitable 220-240V power outlet.
    • For models without cable: The connection of the power supply should be carried out exclusively by trained specialist personnel. Ensure correct wiring according to local electrical codes.
  4. Priming the System: Before starting, ensure the pump and the pressure switch are fully primed with water to prevent dry running.
  5. Initial Start-up: Once all connections are secure and the system is primed, connect the power. The pump should start automatically when a consumer is opened and stop when it is closed.

6. Operation

The pressure switch automatically controls the pump based on water demand. When a tap or valve is opened, the pressure drops, and the switch activates the pump. When the tap or valve is closed, the pressure rises, and the switch deactivates the pump.

  • Power Indicator (Strom AN): A green light indicates that the device is receiving power.
  • Pump Indicator (Pumpe AN): A green light indicates that the pump is currently running.
  • Fault Indicator (Störung): A red light indicates a fault, often due to dry running.
  • Restart Button (Neustart): Press this button to reset the device after a fault, such as dry running protection activation.

The pressure monitor is equipped with a check valve to protect the piping system from pressure loss. This protects your pump from damage even in the event of insufficient flow and ensures a longer service life.

7. Maintenance

The device requires no special maintenance. However, regular checks are recommended to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check all connections for leaks and ensure the cables are intact and free from damage.
  • Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the device clean. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Frost Protection: In areas prone to freezing temperatures, ensure the device and connected pipes are drained or protected from frost during winter months to prevent damage.

8. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not start. No power supply; Fault indicator lit; Dry run protection activated.Check power connection; Press the Neustart (Restart) button; Ensure pump is primed with water.
Pump runs continuously.Leak in the system; Check valve malfunction; Pressure sensor issue.Check all pipes and connections for leaks; Inspect or replace check valve; Contact qualified personnel.
Pump cycles on/off frequently.Small leak; Insufficient water supply; Air in the system.Check for minor leaks; Ensure adequate water source; Bleed air from the system.
Low water pressure.Pump not delivering enough flow; Clogged filter; Incorrect installation.Check pump performance; Clean any filters in the system; Verify vertical installation and flow direction.

9. Disposal

Do not dispose of electrical appliances as unsorted municipal waste. Use separate collection facilities. Contact your local government for information regarding the collection systems available. If electrical appliances are disposed of in landfills or dumps, hazardous substances can leak into the groundwater and get into the food chain, damaging your health and well-being.
