7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Yottamaster PS500RU3, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Enclosure not recognized by computer:
- Ensure all cables (USB and power) are securely connected.
- Try a different USB port on your computer.
- Verify the enclosure is powered on.
- Check Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to see if the disk appears as uninitialized.
- Drives not appearing after RAID setup:
- Confirm the RAID configuration process was completed correctly (holding SET button for 15 seconds during power-on).
- Ensure the drives are properly seated in their trays and connected to the enclosure's backplane.
- Check Disk Management/Disk Utility to initialize and format the new RAID volume.
- Slow data transfer speeds:
- Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer.
- Check the health of your installed drives.
- Verify the USB cable is not damaged.
- Enclosure frequently goes to sleep (macOS):
- macOS may aggressively spin down external drives. Consider using a third-party utility or script to maintain disk activity if this behavior is undesirable.
