2. Safety Instructions
Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent electric shock, injury, and fire.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear safety goggles, hearing protection, and a dust mask. Use work gloves when handling the blade or rough materials.
- Secure Workpiece: Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped before cutting. Never hold the workpiece by hand during operation.
- Maintain a Clean Work Area: Keep the work area well-lit and free of clutter. Remove all tools and scraps from the table before starting the saw.
- Check the Blade: Before each use, inspect the saw blade for damage or dullness. Replace damaged blades immediately.
- Proper Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation to disperse dust and fumes. Connect a dust extraction system if available.
- Avoid Overreaching: Maintain proper footing and balance at all times. Do not overreach.
- Disconnect Power: Always disconnect the power supply before making any adjustments, changing blades, or performing maintenance.
- Children and Bystanders: Keep children and bystanders at a safe distance from the operating saw.
- Emergency Stop: Familiarize yourself with the location and operation of the emergency stop switch.

4. Setup
Proper assembly and initial adjustments are crucial for safe and accurate operation.
4.1 Assembly
The saw requires some assembly upon arrival. Follow the detailed instructions in the separate assembly guide provided with your product. Pay close attention to the installation of the top table and ensure all components are securely fastened. Some users have reported initial stiffness or difficulty with the top table mechanism; ensure all locking pins and adjustment levers are correctly engaged and lubricated if necessary.
4.2 Initial Adjustments and Calibration
- Calibrate Angles: Before first use, calibrate the vertical and horizontal cutting angles to ensure precision. Use a reliable protractor or square to verify the 90-degree and 45-degree stops.
- Adjust Parallel and Angular Guides: For top table operation, adjust the parallel guide to the desired cutting width. For miter cuts, set the angular guide on the swivel table to the required angle.
- Saw Head Tilt: The saw head can be tilted up to 45° to the left for bevel cuts. Ensure it is securely locked at the desired angle before operation.

5. Operating Instructions
The Einhell TC-MS 3017 T offers two primary modes of operation: miter saw and top table saw.
5.1 Miter Saw Operation
- Ensure the saw is in miter saw configuration, with the top table lowered and secured.
- Place the workpiece firmly against the fence and secure it with the workpiece clamp.
- Set the desired miter angle on the swivel table and lock it.
- If a bevel cut is required, tilt the saw head to the desired angle (up to 45° left) and lock it.
- Start the motor. Allow the blade to reach full speed before beginning the cut.
- Slowly lower the saw head through the workpiece, maintaining a steady, controlled motion.
- Once the cut is complete, release the trigger and allow the blade to stop completely before raising the saw head.
- Maximum cutting capacity for miter cuts is 170 x 85 mm.

Figure 5: Performing a miter cut with the saw head lowered.
5.2 Top Table Saw Operation
- Convert the saw to top table configuration by raising and securing the top table. Ensure the miter saw head is locked in its uppermost position.
- Adjust the parallel guide to the desired cutting width.
- Place the workpiece on the top table, ensuring it is flat and stable.
- Start the motor.
- Carefully feed the workpiece into the blade, keeping it firmly against the parallel guide. Use a push stick for narrow pieces.
- Maintain a consistent feed rate.
- Once the cut is complete, turn off the motor and wait for the blade to stop before removing the workpiece.
- Maximum cutting capacity for top table cuts is 85 mm.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Einhell TC-MS 3017 T.
- Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the power and clean the saw thoroughly. Remove sawdust and debris from the motor vents, blade guard, and table surfaces. Use a brush or compressed air.
- Dust Extraction: Regularly empty the dust bag or check the connection to your dust extraction system. A clogged system reduces efficiency and increases dust exposure.
- Blade Changes: When replacing the 305 mm HM metal blade, ensure the saw is unplugged. Follow the instructions in the main manual for safe blade removal and installation. Always use sharp, appropriate blades for the material being cut.
- Lubrication: Periodically lubricate moving parts, such as the swivel table mechanism and saw head pivot points, to ensure smooth operation.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all screws, nuts, and bolts for tightness. Check the power cord for any damage.

7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Einhell TC-MS 3017 T.
- Saw Does Not Start:
- Check if the power cord is securely plugged in.
- Verify that the power outlet is functional.
- Ensure all safety switches and interlocks are engaged (e.g., blade guard in correct position).
- Top Table Not Descending/Stiff Adjustment:
- Ensure all locking mechanisms for the miter saw head and top table are disengaged.
- Inspect for any obstructions or debris.
- Apply a small amount of lubricant to the sliding mechanisms if they are stiff.
- Inaccurate Cuts / Not Cutting Square:
- Recalibrate the miter and bevel angles using a reliable square or protractor.
- Ensure the workpiece is firmly clamped and not shifting during the cut.
- Check if the saw blade is dull or damaged; replace if necessary.
- Verify that the parallel guide is securely locked and parallel to the blade for top table cuts.
- Sparks from Motor Brushes:
- Minor sparking is normal, especially during startup or shutdown.
- Excessive sparking or continuous sparking may indicate worn motor brushes. Consult a qualified service technician for inspection and replacement.
- Excessive Vibration or Noise:
- Check if the saw blade is properly installed and tightened.
- Inspect the blade for damage or warping.
- Ensure the saw is securely mounted on a stable workbench.
