3. Setup and Installation
The installation of the EASYGUARD EC003N-K system is complex and requires specialized knowledge of vehicle electrical systems. It is crucial that this item is installed by a professional car alarm installer to avoid damage to the product or your vehicle, and to ensure all safety features function correctly.
Key Installation Considerations:
- Professional Installation: Do not attempt DIY installation unless you are a qualified professional with experience in car alarm systems.
- Steering Wheel Lock: If your vehicle has a steering wheel lock, it must be unlocked, released, or removed during installation.
- Bypass Module: An extra bypass module (e.g., ASIN: B07NSLPBG7 or B00MEHBVIC) may be required if your factory OEM key fob has a chip immobilizer.
- Trunk Release Solenoid: An extra trunk release solenoid kit (e.g., ASIN: B00N4RP8VM) may be required for remote trunk release functionality.
Antenna Placement:
Proper placement of the PKE antennas is vital for optimal passive keyless entry performance. The system typically uses two PKE antennas (LF antennas) and one alarm antenna (HF antenna).
Video 3.1: Demonstration of recommended PKE antenna installation locations within a vehicle.
Consult the detailed wiring diagram provided with your product for specific connection points and recommended antenna locations within your vehicle's interior. Incorrect wiring can lead to system malfunction or vehicle damage.
4. Operating Instructions
Passive Keyless Entry (PKE)
The PKE feature automatically locks or unlocks your car doors as you approach or walk away from the vehicle, provided the key fob is within range (typically 1-3 meters).
- Automatic Unlock: With the key fob in hand or pocket, approach the car within 1-2 meters, and the doors will automatically unlock.
- Automatic Lock: Walk away from the car for 2-3 meters with the key fob, and the doors will automatically lock.

Remote Engine Start/Stop
This feature allows you to remotely start your vehicle to pre-cool or pre-warm the interior before entry.
- To Remote Start: Press and hold the start button (often combined with the panic button icon) on your key fob for approximately 3 seconds. The vehicle's engine will start.
- To Remote Stop: While the engine is running via remote start, press and hold the same button on your key fob for approximately 3 seconds. The engine will shut off.

Push Button Start/Stop
Once inside the vehicle, the push button replaces the traditional ignition key.
- To Start the Engine:
- In disarmed status, step on the foot brake pedal and short press the push start button once.
- Alternatively, in disarmed status, keep pressing the start button for 3 seconds while stepping on the foot brake pedal.
- To Shut Off the Engine: Once the car is started, step on the foot brake pedal and short press the push start button once.

5. Maintenance
Key Fob Battery Replacement
The key fobs are powered by CR2032 Lithium Metal batteries. When the battery is low, the range or responsiveness of the key fob may decrease. Follow these steps to replace the battery:
- Press the button on the key fob and pull to separate the key fob head and body button.
- Once apart, use a flat screwdriver to carefully detach the key fob shell. Handle with care to avoid breaking the shell.
- Replace the old battery with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring correct polarity.
- Reassemble the key fob by snapping the shell back together and reattaching the head.

Figure 5.1: Step-by-step guide for replacing the CR2032 battery in the key fob.
General Care
- Keep the control module and other electronic components dry and away from extreme temperatures.
- Avoid dropping the key fobs or exposing them to water.
- Regularly check wiring connections during routine vehicle maintenance to ensure they remain secure.
6. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your EASYGUARD EC003N-K system, please consider the following common points before contacting support:
- System Not Responding: Check key fob battery. Ensure you are within the effective range for remote functions and PKE.
- Remote Start Failure: Verify that the vehicle is in park (for automatic transmission) or neutral with the parking brake engaged (for manual transmission, if applicable). Ensure all doors are closed. Check if a bypass module is correctly installed if your vehicle has a chip immobilizer.
- PKE Inconsistent: Ensure PKE antennas are correctly installed and not obstructed. Avoid placing the key fob near other electronic devices that might cause interference.
- Engine Cuts Off After Installation: This is a critical issue. Immediately consult your professional installer. This could indicate an incorrect wiring or system fault.
- Alarm Triggers Randomly: Check for loose connections or faulty sensors. Ensure the vehicle's doors, hood, and trunk are fully closed.
Given the complexity of this system, most troubleshooting beyond basic checks should be performed by a professional installer. Attempting to fix complex issues without proper knowledge can lead to further damage.
