Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your KeySmart Rugged key organizer:

Remove Screws: Unscrew and remove both screws from your KeySmart Rugged.
Disassemble: Carefully remove the back plate, loop piece, and any existing spacers.
Orient Base: Lay your KeySmart base plate face down with the posts facing upwards.
Choose Screws: Select the appropriate screw size based on the number of keys you plan to carry. Longer screws are for up to 14 keys, shorter for 2-8 keys.
Layout Keys: Before assembly, lay out your keys to ensure an even stack on each side. This helps achieve a balanced and compact setup.
Stack Keys (Side 1): Stack your keys on one side of the KeySmart, up to 7 keys high.
Secure First Side: While holding the pocket clip in place, lay the back plate on top of the stacked keys and secure this stack with one screw.
Stack Keys (Side 2): Swing the back plate out of the way and stack keys on the opposite post. If you have an odd number of keys, use spacers to achieve an even stack.
Final Secure: Swing the back plate back into place and secure it with the second screw.
Tighten: Use a coin or a flat tool to tighten both screws securely. Do not overtighten.

Operating Instructions

Accessing Keys

To access a key, simply pivot it out from the KeySmart body. The design allows individual keys to swing out smoothly while keeping the others securely nested.

Using the Bottle Opener

The KeySmart Rugged includes a built-in stainless steel bottle opener. To use it, pivot the bottle opener tool out from the KeySmart body and use it to open bottle caps.

Using the Pocket Clip and Loop Piece

The removable pocket clip allows you to secure your KeySmart to a pocket, belt, or bag. The loop piece provides an attachment point for larger items like car key fobs or other accessories that cannot be directly integrated into the KeySmart.

Maintenance

Cleaning: Wipe the KeySmart with a soft, damp cloth to remove dirt or debris. Avoid harsh chemicals.

Tightening Screws: Periodically check the screws for tightness. If keys feel loose, gently tighten the screws with a coin or flat tool. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the unit or make keys difficult to pivot.

Lubrication: If keys become stiff, a small amount of graphite lubricant can be applied to the key pivots.

Troubleshooting

Keys are too loose/tight: Adjust the tightness of the screws. If keys are too tight, slightly loosen the screws. If too loose, tighten them. Ensure keys are stacked evenly.

Cannot fit all keys: The KeySmart Rugged can hold up to 14 keys. If you have more, consider purchasing expansion screws. Ensure you are using the correct screw length for your number of keys.

Keys are difficult to pivot: Check if the screws are overtightened. If not, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the key pivots.

Keys are not flush: Ensure keys are stacked evenly on both posts. Use spacers as needed to fill gaps and create an even stack.
