Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your Arlo Base Station VMB4000:

  1. Connect to Router: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the LAN port on the back of the Arlo Base Station and the other end to an available LAN port on your internet router.
  2. Connect Power: Connect the power adapter to the base station's power port and plug it into an electrical outlet.
  3. Power On: Press the On-Off button on the back of the base station. The power LED and internet LED on the front of the base station should light green within approximately two minutes.
  4. Download Arlo App: Download the Arlo app from your mobile device's app store (iOS or Android).
  5. Create Account: Open the Arlo app and create a new Arlo account if you do not already have one.
  6. Add Device: In the Arlo app, follow the prompts to add a new device. Select your Arlo Base Station model.
  7. Base Station Discovery: Immediately after connecting the base station to your router and powering it on, initiate the discovery process within the Arlo app. This is crucial for a successful initial setup.
  8. Sync Cameras: Once the base station is successfully set up, follow the app instructions to sync your Arlo cameras with the base station. Ensure cameras are within the Wi-Fi range of the base station for effective operation.

  • Check the camera's battery level.
  • Resync the cameras with the base station using the Arlo app.
  • Restart the base station.
Cannot access the base station via the Arlo app.
  • Verify your mobile device has an active internet connection.
  • Ensure the base station's internet LED is solid green.
  • Restart the Arlo app.
  • Log out and log back into your Arlo account.
  • Restart the base station and your router.
Local USB backup is not working.
  • Ensure the USB drive is properly inserted into one of the USB ports.
  • Verify the USB drive is formatted to FAT32 or NTFS.
  • Check the settings in the Arlo app to ensure local recording is enabled and configured correctly.
  • Try a different USB drive.
