1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and efficient installation, operation, and maintenance of your DAB JET 82 M self-priming centrifugal pump. Please read these instructions carefully before installation and use, and keep them for future reference.
The DAB JET 82 M is a self-priming centrifugal pump designed for domestic water supply systems, small-scale agriculture, and gardening. Its self-priming capability is particularly effective even in the presence of air bubbles. The pump is suitable for pumping clean, non-viscous, non-aggressive, non-crystallized, and chemically neutral liquids, free from solid particles or abrasive substances.

2. Safety Instructions
WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or death.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power supply matches the pump's specifications (1 x 220-240 V, 50 Hz). All electrical connections must be performed by a qualified electrician and comply with local regulations. Disconnect power before any maintenance or installation.
- Installation Environment: Install the pump in a dry, well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight and frost. The maximum ambient temperature should not exceed +40 °C.
- Liquid Temperature: The liquid temperature range is 0 °C to +35 °C for domestic use (EN60335-2-41) and 0 °C to +40 °C for other uses. Do not pump liquids outside this range.
- Pressure: The maximum operating pressure is 6 bar (600 kPa). Do not exceed this pressure.
- Protection: The pump has an IP 44 protection rating (IP 55 at the terminal board) and Class F insulation.
- Children and Unauthorized Personnel: Keep children and unauthorized personnel away from the pump during operation.
- Maintenance: Only qualified personnel should perform maintenance. Use only original spare parts.
3. Setup and Installation
3.1 Unpacking
Carefully remove the pump from its packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage during transit. Report any damage to the supplier immediately.
3.2 Mounting
Mount the pump on a stable, level surface to minimize vibration. Secure it using appropriate fasteners. Ensure there is adequate space around the pump for ventilation and maintenance.
3.3 Hydraulic Connections
Connect the suction and discharge pipes to the pump. Ensure all connections are watertight to prevent air leaks, which can affect the pump's self-priming ability. Use appropriate fittings and sealants.
Refer to the diagram below for connection points and dimensions.

3.4 Electrical Connections
Connect the pump to a suitable power supply (1 x 220-240 V, 50 Hz) via a dedicated circuit breaker or fuse. Ensure proper grounding. The pump has integrated thermo-amperometric protection and a permanently inserted capacitor.
4. Operation
4.1 Priming the Pump
Before the first start-up, the pump body must be filled with the liquid to be pumped through the dedicated filling plug. This is crucial for the self-priming function. Once filled, replace the plug securely.
4.2 Starting the Pump
Once primed and all connections are secure, switch on the power supply. The pump should start operating. Monitor for any unusual noises or vibrations.
4.3 Performance Characteristics
The pump operates within a flow rate of 0.4 to 3.6 m³/h with heads up to 47 meters. The performance curve below illustrates the relationship between flow rate (Q) and head (H) for the JET 82 M model compared to other models.

Image: Performance curve for DAB JET series pumps. The red line specifically indicates the performance of the JET 82 model, showing its head (H in meters/bar) against flow rate (Q in m³/h or l/min).
4.4 Shutting Down the Pump
To stop the pump, switch off the power supply. For prolonged periods of inactivity, especially in cold climates, drain the pump to prevent frost damage.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your DAB JET 82 M pump. Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance.
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check for leaks, unusual noises, or vibrations. Ensure all connections are tight.
- Cleaning: Keep the pump exterior clean and free from debris to ensure proper motor cooling.
- Frost Protection: In areas prone to freezing temperatures, drain the pump completely and store it in a frost-free environment when not in use.
- Mechanical Seal: The mechanical seal is made of carbon/ceramic. If leaks occur from the seal area, it may need replacement by a qualified technician.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not start | No power supply Motor overload protection tripped Seized impeller | Check power connection and circuit breaker Allow motor to cool, check for blockages Contact qualified technician |
| Pump runs but no water is delivered | Pump not primed Air leak in suction line Suction lift too high Foot valve blocked or faulty | Prime the pump (fill with water) Check all suction connections for leaks Reduce suction lift or reposition pump Inspect and clean/replace foot valve |
| Reduced flow or pressure | Partial blockage in suction/discharge Air in the system Worn impeller/diffuser | Inspect and clear pipes Check for air leaks, re-prime if necessary Contact qualified technician for inspection/replacement |
| Excessive noise or vibration | Cavitation (air in pump) Loose mounting Bearing wear | Check for air leaks, ensure adequate water supply Tighten mounting bolts Contact qualified technician |
If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, contact a qualified service technician.
