Setup

  1. Battery Installation: Ensure the battery is correctly aligned with the radio body and slides upwards until it clicks into place.
  2. Antenna Attachment: Screw the antenna clockwise onto the connector on the top of the transceiver until it is secure.
  3. Charging: Place the radio with the battery installed into the charging base. The charging base connects to a wall charger. A red light indicates charging, and a green light indicates a full charge. Alternatively, the battery can be charged directly via a USB-C port if available on the battery itself (refer to specific battery model for this feature).
  4. Earpiece Connection: If using the air acoustic tube headset earpiece, plug its connector into the designated port on the side of the radio.

Operating Instructions

  1. Power On/Off & Volume Control: Turn the power/volume knob clockwise to power on the radio. Continue turning to adjust the volume. Turn counter-clockwise to power off.
  2. Channel Selection: Use the channel selection knob (typically the middle knob on top) to choose one of the 16 available channels. Ensure all radios intended for communication are set to the same channel.
  3. Push-to-Talk (PTT): To transmit your voice, press and hold the PTT button (usually on the side of the radio). Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to listen.
  4. VOX Function: The Voice Operated Exchange (VOX) function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice, eliminating the need to press the PTT button. This is particularly useful when using the earpiece.
  5. Voice Scrambler: This feature encrypts your voice transmission, providing private communication. Refer to the user manual for specific instructions on activating and deactivating the voice scrambler.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid overcharging and completely discharging the battery. Store the radio and batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use for extended periods.
  • Storage: When storing the radio for a long time, remove the battery to prevent leakage.
  • Antenna: Ensure the antenna is securely attached. Do not bend or force the antenna, as this can damage the radio's performance.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and fully charged. Turn the power/volume knob clockwise until a click is heard.
  • Cannot Transmit or Receive: Verify that all radios are on the same channel. Check if the battery is low. Ensure the antenna is securely attached.
  • Poor Sound Quality/Static: Move closer to the other radio. Check for obstructions between radios. Ensure the volume is adjusted appropriately.
  • Short Range: Obstructions like buildings, hills, or dense foliage can reduce range. Try moving to an open area. Low battery can also affect range.
