Setup and Assembly

The LEZYNE Macro Floor Drive pump typically comes pre-assembled. Upon unboxing, ensure all components are present and undamaged. These include the pump body (barrel, piston, handle), the base, the hose, and the chuck (either ABS Flip Chuck or Dual Valve Pump Head) with its integrated gauge.

Inspecting the Chuck

Your pump will be equipped with one of two chuck types:

  • ABS Flip Chuck: This chuck features a threaded connection for secure attachment to both Presta and Schrader valves. It includes an Air Bleed System (ABS) button for fine-tuning tire pressure.
  • Dual Valve Pump Head: This head is designed for quick and easy push-on attachment to Presta, Schrader, and Dunlop valves.

Operating Instructions

Inflating Tires with ABS Flip Chuck

  1. Prepare the Valve: For Presta valves, unscrew the valve core locknut until it is loose. For Schrader valves, no preparation is typically needed.
  2. Attach the Chuck:
    • For Presta valves, thread the "Presta" side of the ABS Flip Chuck onto the valve stem until secure.
    • For Schrader valves, thread the "Schrader" side of the ABS Flip Chuck onto the valve stem until secure.

  3. Inflate the Tire: Place your feet on the pump's base to stabilize it. Grip the handle firmly and push down smoothly to inflate the tire. Pull the handle up to draw more air into the pump. Repeat this motion.
  4. Monitor Pressure: Observe the 2.5-inch analog gauge to monitor the tire pressure as you pump. Inflate to the recommended PSI for your tire.
  5. Adjust Pressure (ABS Flip Chuck only): If you over-inflate, press the Air Bleed System (ABS) button on the chuck to release air in small increments until the desired pressure is reached.
  6. Remove the Chuck: Once the desired pressure is achieved, unscrew the chuck from the valve stem. For Presta valves, remember to tighten the valve core locknut.

Inflating Tires with Dual Valve Pump Head

  1. Prepare the Valve: For Presta valves, unscrew the valve core locknut until it is loose. For Schrader valves, no preparation is typically needed.
  2. Attach the Chuck: Push the appropriate opening of the Dual Valve Pump Head firmly onto the valve stem. Ensure a tight seal.
  3. Inflate and Monitor: Proceed with inflation and pressure monitoring as described for the ABS Flip Chuck.
  4. Remove the Chuck: Pull the chuck straight off the valve stem. For Presta valves, remember to tighten the valve core locknut.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your LEZYNE Macro Floor Drive pump.

  • Cleaning: Wipe down the pump's barrel, hose, and chuck with a damp cloth after use, especially if it has been exposed to dirt or moisture. Avoid using harsh chemicals.
  • Storage: Store the pump in a clean, dry environment, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight. Ensure the hose is neatly wrapped around the pump body to prevent kinks or damage.
  • Chuck Inspection: Periodically inspect the chuck's rubber seals and threads (for ABS Flip Chuck) for wear or damage. Replace if necessary to maintain an airtight seal.
  • Hose Condition: Check the hose for any cracks, cuts, or signs of deterioration. A damaged hose can lead to air leaks and reduced pumping efficiency.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Pump does not inflate tire / No air comes out.Chuck not securely attached to valve; Valve core not open (Presta); Internal pump seal issue.Ensure chuck is fully threaded/pushed onto valve. For Presta, unscrew valve core locknut. Check for leaks around chuck connection. If problem persists, internal components may require service.
Gauge reading is inaccurate.Gauge calibration issue; External factors affecting reading.Compare reading with a known accurate pressure gauge. If consistently off, contact LEZYNE support.
Difficulty pushing handle down.High tire pressure approaching pump's maximum; Internal friction. This pump is designed for high pressure; a smaller diameter barrel allows for high pressures with minimal force. Ensure the pump is clean and free of debris.
Air leaks from chuck connection.Chuck not properly seated; Worn chuck seals.Re-attach chuck firmly. Inspect rubber seals inside the chuck for wear or damage and replace if necessary.
