Installation Guide

Safety First: Always ensure your motorcycle is stable on a stand before performing any maintenance or installation. Wear appropriate safety gear. If you are unsure about any step, consult a professional mechanic.

  1. Prepare the Motorcycle: Place your dirt bike on a suitable stand so that the rear wheel is off the ground and stable.
  2. Loosen Axle Nut: Using the appropriate wrench, loosen the rear axle nut. Do not remove it completely yet.
  3. Loosen Chain Adjuster Bolts: Loosen the existing chain adjuster bolts on both sides of the swingarm.
  4. Remove Old Axle Blocks: Carefully slide the rear wheel forward to create slack in the chain. Remove the old axle blocks from both sides of the swingarm.
  5. Install New Axle Blocks: Insert the JFG RACING Axle Blocks into the swingarm slots, ensuring they are oriented correctly. The adjustment marks should face outwards for visibility.
  6. Adjust Chain Tension: Using the chain adjuster bolts, adjust the chain tension to the manufacturer's recommended specifications. Use the clear adjustment marks on the new blocks to ensure both sides are aligned equally for proper wheel alignment.
  7. Tighten Axle Nut: Once the chain tension and wheel alignment are correct, tighten the rear axle nut to the motorcycle manufacturer's specified torque.
  8. Final Check: Double-check all bolts and nuts for tightness. Rotate the wheel to ensure the chain moves freely and has the correct tension.

Operation and Adjustment

The JFG RACING Axle Blocks simplify chain tension and wheel alignment. After installation, regular checks are recommended.

  • Chain Tension: To adjust chain tension, loosen the rear axle nut slightly. Then, turn the chain adjuster bolts on both sides of the swingarm. Turn them clockwise to tighten the chain (move the wheel backward) or counter-clockwise to loosen the chain (move the wheel forward).
  • Wheel Alignment: The engraved marks on the axle blocks are crucial for accurate wheel alignment. Ensure the same mark is visible on both the left and right axle blocks relative to the swingarm. This ensures your rear wheel is perfectly straight, which is vital for handling and tire wear.
  • Final Tightening: Once the desired chain tension and alignment are achieved, securely tighten the rear axle nut to the manufacturer's specified torque.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and performance of your JFG RACING Axle Blocks.

  • Regular Cleaning: Clean the axle blocks regularly, especially after riding in muddy or dusty conditions. Use a mild cleaner and soft cloth to avoid damaging the anodized finish.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the blocks for any signs of wear, damage, or deformation. Check the adjustment marks for clarity.
  • Fastener Check: Ensure the axle nut and chain adjuster bolts remain properly torqued. Loose components can lead to poor performance or damage.
  • Lubrication: While the blocks themselves do not require lubrication, ensure the axle and chain are properly lubricated according to your motorcycle's maintenance schedule.

Troubleshooting

Issue: Axle blocks do not fit my motorcycle.
Solution: Verify that your motorcycle's make, model, and year are listed in the "Compatibility" section of this manual. These blocks are designed for specific Yamaha YZ250F (2012-2022) and YZ450F (2010-2022) models. If your model is not listed, the blocks may not be compatible. Contact JFG RACING support for further assistance.
Issue: Axle blocks appear to be bending or deforming under stress.
Solution: Ensure the axle nut is tightened to the motorcycle manufacturer's specified torque. Overtightening or undertightening can cause undue stress. While made from durable 6061-T6 aluminum, extreme impacts or improper installation can lead to damage. If the product appears defective, cease use immediately and contact JFG RACING customer support.
Issue: Difficulty achieving precise wheel alignment.
Solution: Ensure the adjustment marks on both axle blocks are clean and clearly visible. Make small, equal adjustments to both chain adjuster bolts, referencing the marks carefully. It may be helpful to measure from the swingarm pivot to the axle center on both sides for absolute precision if the marks are difficult to read or trust.
