1. Important Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions carefully before using your Toshiba MG12GQN-SS Toaster Oven. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.

3. Setup and First Use

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the toaster oven and all accessories from the packaging. Remove any packing materials, stickers, or labels.
  2. Placement: Place the toaster oven on a stable, heat-resistant, and level surface. Ensure there is at least 4 inches (10 cm) of clearance on all sides and above the appliance for proper ventilation. Do not place it directly against a wall or under cabinets.
  3. Cleaning: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Wash the wire rack and baking pan in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Reinsert the crumb tray, wire rack, and baking pan into the oven.
  4. First Use Burn-Off: Before first use, operate the oven empty for approximately 15 minutes at 450°F (230°C) to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke may be present; this is normal and will dissipate. Ensure the area is well-ventilated during this process.
  5. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

General Operation

  1. Place food on the wire rack or baking pan.
  2. Close the glass door securely.
  3. Turn the Function Selector Knob to the desired cooking mode (Toast, Bake, Broil).
  4. Turn the Temperature Control Knob to the desired temperature.
  5. Turn the Timer Knob to the desired cooking time. The power indicator light will illuminate.
  6. When the set time expires, the oven will automatically turn off and a bell will sound.
  7. Carefully remove cooked food using oven mitts.

Specific Functions

Toasting

  • Place bread slices directly on the wire rack.
  • Set the Function Selector Knob to "Toast".
  • Set the Temperature Control Knob to "Toast" (usually a specific setting or maximum temperature).
  • Turn the Timer Knob to the desired toast shade (light to dark). The oven will begin toasting.

Baking

  • Place food in an oven-safe baking pan on the wire rack.
  • Set the Function Selector Knob to "Bake".
  • Set the Temperature Control Knob to the desired baking temperature.
  • Turn the Timer Knob to the desired baking time.

Broiling

  • Place food on the baking pan, positioned on the wire rack. For best results, position food closer to the top heating elements.
  • Set the Function Selector Knob to "Broil".
  • Set the Temperature Control Knob to "Broil" (usually maximum temperature).
  • Turn the Timer Knob to the desired broiling time. Monitor food closely as broiling is a fast cooking method.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your toaster oven.

  1. Always unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Crumb Tray: Pull out the crumb tray from the bottom of the oven. Discard crumbs. Wipe the tray with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Reinsert the crumb tray. Clean frequently to prevent crumb buildup and potential fire hazards.
  3. Wire Rack and Baking Pan: Wash these accessories in warm, soapy water. For stubborn food residue, soak them before cleaning. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before returning to the oven. These parts are generally not dishwasher safe unless specified.
  4. Interior: Wipe the interior walls with a damp cloth and mild liquid soap solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as they can damage the non-stick coating or stainless steel surfaces. Ensure the interior is completely dry before next use.
  5. Exterior: Wipe the exterior surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or polishes.
  6. Heating Elements: Do not attempt to clean the heating elements. Any food that splatters onto the elements will burn off during operation.
