4. Operating Instructions

The TomCare SL-1020 Solar Flickering Flame Torches are designed for automatic operation:

  • Daytime Charging: During daylight hours, the integrated solar panel absorbs sunlight and converts it into electrical energy, which is stored in the internal rechargeable battery.
  • Automatic Illumination: As dusk approaches and ambient light levels decrease, the torch will automatically turn on, displaying its flickering flame effect.
  • Automatic Shut-off: At dawn, or when the battery charge is depleted, the torch will automatically turn off and begin recharging.
  • Initial Charge: For first-time use, ensure the torch is placed in direct sunlight for at least 8 hours with the switch in the 'ON' position to allow for a full initial charge.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your solar torches, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Clean Solar Panel: Regularly wipe the solar panel with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, and debris. A clean panel ensures efficient sunlight absorption.
  • Clear Obstructions: Ensure no leaves, branches, or other objects are shading the solar panel, as this will hinder charging.
  • Weather Resistance: The torches are rated IP65 waterproof, meaning they are protected against dust and low-pressure water jets. They are designed to withstand rain and snow, but avoid submerging them in water.
  • Winter Care: In regions with prolonged periods of low sunlight or heavy snow, consider bringing the torches indoors or clearing snow from the solar panels to prevent battery degradation.
