Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Monopoly game:
Unfold the Game Board: Place the game board on a flat surface.
Separate Cards: Separate the Title Deed cards, Chance cards, and Community Chest cards. Shuffle the Chance cards and place them face down on the designated "Chance" space on the board. Shuffle the Community Chest cards and place them face down on the designated "Community Chest" space.
Banker Selection: One player is chosen as the Banker. The Banker is responsible for the Bank's money, Title Deeds, Houses, and Hotels. The Banker may also play, but must keep their personal money separate from the Bank's.
Initial Money Distribution: Each player receives an initial amount of Monopoly money from the Bank. The exact amount and denominations are detailed in the full rulebook.
Choose a Token: Each player selects one of the 8 tokens and places it on the "GO" space.
Houses and Hotels: Place the green Houses and red Hotels near the board, ready for purchase.

Operating Instructions (How to Play)
The objective of Monopoly is to be the last player remaining with money, by driving all other players into bankruptcy. Players move around the game board, buying and developing properties, and collecting rent from opponents who land on their properties.
Player Turn Sequence:
Roll the Dice: The player rolls two dice and moves their token clockwise around the board the corresponding number of spaces.
Action Based on Space: The action taken depends on the space landed on:
- Unowned Property: The player may buy the property from the Bank for its printed price. If they decline, the property is auctioned off to the highest bidder.
- Owned Property: The player must pay rent to the property owner.
- Chance or Community Chest: Draw the top card from the respective pile and follow its instructions.
- Tax Spaces: Pay the indicated tax to the Bank.
- Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the "In Jail" space.
- Free Parking: No action is taken.
- Go: Collect M200 from the Bank when passing or landing on "GO".
Doubles: If a player rolls doubles, they take their turn as usual and then roll again. Rolling doubles three times in a row sends the player to Jail.
End of Turn: Once all actions are completed, the turn passes to the next player to the left.

Game Rules (Key Mechanics)
Buying and Developing Property:
Monopolies: To build Houses or Hotels, you must own all properties of a color group (a monopoly).
Houses: Once you own a monopoly, you can buy Houses from the Bank and place them on your properties. You must build evenly across the color group.
Hotels: After building four Houses on each property in a color group, you can upgrade them to a Hotel.
Rent: Rent increases significantly with Houses and Hotels.
Mortgaging Property:
If you need money, you can mortgage properties to the Bank. You cannot collect rent on mortgaged properties.
To unmortgage a property, you must pay the mortgage value plus 10% interest.
Bankruptcy:
If you owe more money than you can pay, even after selling all your buildings and mortgaging all your properties, you are bankrupt and out of the game.
All your properties are turned over to the player you owe money to, or to the Bank if you owe the Bank.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity of your Monopoly game:
Storage: Store all game components in the original box when not in use. Keep the box in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping or fading.
Cleaning: Wipe the game board and plastic components with a soft, dry cloth if they become dusty. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
Card Care: Handle cards carefully to prevent bending or tearing. Keep them away from liquids.
Missing Pieces: In case of missing pieces, refer to the manufacturer's website for replacement options.
Troubleshooting
Here are solutions to common issues you might encounter:
Rule Disputes: If a rule is unclear, refer to the official Monopoly rulebook (this manual) or visit the Hasbro Gaming website for clarifications. In friendly games, players may agree on house rules before starting.
Lost Money/Cards: If money or cards are lost during play, the Banker can issue replacements from the Bank's supply, or players can agree to continue without them.
Game Length: Monopoly can sometimes be a long game. To shorten play, consider using house rules such as starting with fewer properties or a time limit.
