4.2 First Use and Rinsing Cycle
- Fill the water tank with fresh tap water up to the MAX level.
- Plug the machine into a power outlet.
- Turn on the machine using the ON/OFF button. The machine will perform an automatic rinsing cycle. Place a container under the coffee spouts to collect the water.
- Once the rinsing cycle is complete, the machine is ready for use.
4.3 Water Hardness Setting
Setting the correct water hardness ensures optimal descaling intervals and machine longevity. Refer to the full manual for detailed instructions on testing your water hardness and programming the machine accordingly.
5. Operating
5.1 Filling the Water Tank and Bean Container
- Lift the water tank cover and remove the tank. Fill it with fresh water up to the MAX level and reinsert it.
- Open the coffee bean container lid and pour whole coffee beans into the container. Close the lid securely.
5.2 Adjusting Grind Settings
The grind setting can be adjusted using the dial inside the bean container. Turn the dial only when the coffee grinder is operating. A finer grind (lower number) produces a stronger, slower extraction, while a coarser grind (higher number) results in a milder, faster extraction.
5.3 Making Coffee and Espresso
- Place one or two cups under the coffee spouts.
- Select your desired beverage from the control panel (e.g., Espresso, Coffee, Long, Doppio+).
- The machine will automatically grind the beans, brew, and dispense the coffee.
- You can stop the delivery at any time by pressing the selected beverage button again.

- After use, clean the milk frother immediately to prevent milk residue from drying.
6. Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the performance and longevity of your espresso machine.
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container: Empty and clean these components daily. The machine will prompt you when the grounds container needs emptying.
- Coffee Spouts: Wipe with a damp cloth.
- Water Tank: Rinse daily and refill with fresh water.
6.2 Cleaning the Infuser Unit
The infuser unit should be cleaned monthly or as indicated by the machine. Turn off and unplug the machine. Remove the infuser unit (refer to the full manual for specific instructions) and rinse it under running water. Allow it to air dry before reinserting.
6.3 Descaling Procedure
The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use only De'Longhi descaling solution. Follow the on-screen instructions carefully. Descaling is a multi-step process that takes approximately 30-45 minutes.
6.4 Water Filter Replacement
If you use a water filter, replace it every two months or as indicated by the machine. This helps reduce limescale buildup and improves coffee taste.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your machine.
- No Coffee Dispensed: Check if the water tank is empty or incorrectly inserted. Ensure coffee beans are present in the container.
- Coffee is Too Weak/Strong: Adjust the grind setting (finer for stronger, coarser for weaker) or the coffee strength setting on the display.
- Machine Not Turning On: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the machine and the wall outlet.
- Error Messages: Refer to the full instruction manual for a complete list of error codes and their solutions. Common messages include 'Empty Water Tank', 'Empty Grounds Container', or 'Descaling Required'.
