Setup and Assembly

Before operating your chainsaw, proper assembly and preparation are crucial for safety and performance.

1. Unpacking and Inspection

2. Guide Bar and Chain Installation

  1. Ensure the engine is off and the spark plug cap is disconnected.
  2. Remove the chain cover by loosening the two nuts.
  3. Place the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face forward in the direction of rotation.
  4. Mount the guide bar onto the studs, aligning the chain tensioner pin with the hole in the guide bar.
  5. Replace the chain cover and hand-tighten the nuts. Do not fully tighten yet.

3. Chain Tension Adjustment

Proper chain tension is vital for safe and efficient operation. The chain should be snug against the guide bar but still able to be pulled around by hand.

  1. Using the side chain tensioner, adjust the chain tension. Turn the screw clockwise to tighten and counter-clockwise to loosen.
  2. Lift the tip of the guide bar slightly while tightening the nuts to ensure proper tension.
  3. Once tension is correct, fully tighten the two nuts on the chain cover.
  4. Check the tension again after tightening the nuts.

  4. Pull out the choke knob (for cold start).
  5. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
  6. Pull the starter cord firmly and steadily until the engine fires (usually a few pulls).
  7. Once the engine fires, push the choke knob back in.
  8. Pull the starter cord again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
  9. Allow the engine to warm up for a few moments before disengaging the chain brake and beginning work.
