Introduction

The NINESTARS DZT-50-28 Automatic Touchless Motion Sensor Rectangular Trash Can is designed for convenience and hygiene in various settings, including homes, offices, kitchens, bedrooms, and dorm rooms. This 13-gallon stainless steel unit features advanced infrared motion sensor technology for hands-free operation and a fingerprint-resistant finish for easy maintenance. Its innovative design includes a removable ring liner to securely hold trash bags, ensuring a neat and clean appearance.

Components

The NINESTARS DZT-50-28 trash can includes the following main components:

• Trash Can Base (Stainless Steel)
• Trash Can Ring Liner (Plastic)
• Trash Can Lid (with Motion Sensor and Battery Compartment)

Setup

1. Battery Installation

1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the trash can lid.
2. Open the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert two (2) D-sized alkaline batteries (not included) according to the polarity indicators (+/-). Alkaline batteries are highly recommended for best performance.
4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. Liner Ring and Trash Bag Installation

1. Remove the lid from the trash can base.
2. Take out the trash can ring liner.
3. Insert a standard 13-gallon trash bag (or NINESTARS custom trash bags NSTB-13-30) through the liner ring hoop first.
4. Fold the edges of the trash bag over the liner ring to secure it.
5. Place the trash bag and ring liner back into the trash can base. Ensure the bag is fully extended inside the can.
6. Carefully place the lid back onto the trash can base, aligning it properly.

Operating Instructions

Motion Sensor Operation

The trash can features an infrared motion sensor for touch-free operation:

• Pass your hand or debris within ten inches or a 130° angle from the infrared sensor.
• The lid will automatically open.
• The lid will remain open as long as debris or your hand remains within the sensor's range.
• Three seconds after your hand or debris moves away from the sensor, the lid will close automatically.

Advanced Technology Features

• Delay Sensing Technology: This feature helps preserve battery life and prevents unnecessary lid openings from pets, children, or casual walking by.
• Quiet Closing Function: The lid is designed to close quietly, contributing to the longevity of the product.

Maintenance

Cleaning

• The fingerprint-resistant stainless steel base helps keep the can clean. Wipe down the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and a mild cleaner as needed.
• The plastic interior can be easily cleaned with soap and water.
• Important: Do not wash the lid. The lid contains electronic components that can be damaged by water. Use a damp cloth to wipe the lid clean.

Battery Care

• Power lasts up to 6 months in normal daily usage. Replace batteries when the lid's operation becomes sluggish or stops.
• Always use new, high-quality alkaline D-sized batteries for optimal performance.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your NINESTARS trash can, consider the following common solutions:

• Lid not opening/closing: Check if the batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Replace them if necessary. Ensure there are no obstructions blocking the sensor or the lid's path.
• Lid opening accidentally: The delay sensing technology is designed to minimize this. Ensure the trash can is not placed in a high-traffic area where constant motion might trigger the sensor.
• Unusual noises: Ensure the lid is properly seated on the base and the liner ring is correctly installed.
