Setup (Installation)
Follow these steps for proper installation of your new faucet:
- Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home or the shut-off valves under the sink. Turn them off completely. Open the existing faucet to drain any remaining water.
- Remove Old Faucet: Disconnect the hot and cold water supply lines from the old faucet. Unscrew the mounting nuts from underneath the sink and remove the old faucet and drain assembly. Clean the sink surface thoroughly.
- Install New Faucet:

- Apply a thin bead of plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the base of the new faucet.
- Insert the faucet body through the holes in the sink deck.
- From underneath the sink, place the rubber washer, then the metal washer, and finally thread the mounting nuts onto the faucet shanks. Hand-tighten, then use a basin wrench to secure firmly, but do not overtighten.
- Connect Water Supply Lines:
- Connect the hot and cold water supply lines to the corresponding inlets on the faucet shanks. Use Teflon tape on threaded connections if not already sealed.
- Connect the other ends of the supply lines to the hot and cold water shut-off valves. Tighten all connections securely with an adjustable wrench.
- Install Drain Assembly: Follow the instructions provided with your specific drain assembly. Typically, this involves applying sealant to the drain flange, inserting it into the sink drain hole, and securing it from underneath with gaskets and a locknut. Connect the pop-up rod if applicable.
- Test for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Check all connections for leaks. If leaks are present, tighten the connections slightly until the leak stops. Operate the faucet to ensure proper hot and cold water flow.
Operating Instructions
Your Project Source 2-handle faucet is designed for easy operation:
- Cold Water: Turn the right handle counter-clockwise to open the cold water flow. Turn clockwise to close.
- Hot Water: Turn the left handle counter-clockwise to open the hot water flow. Turn clockwise to close.
- Temperature Control: Adjust the hot and cold handles simultaneously to achieve your desired water temperature.
- Flow Control: The further you turn the handles, the greater the water flow.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your faucet.
- Cleaning: Clean the faucet regularly with a soft cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the chrome finish.
- Aerator Cleaning: If water flow decreases or becomes erratic, the aerator may be clogged. Unscrew the aerator from the end of the spout, clean any debris, and rinse thoroughly before reattaching.
- Leak Checks: Periodically check under the sink for any signs of leaks around the supply lines or drain connections. Tighten connections if necessary.
Troubleshooting
Refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Low water flow | Clogged aerator; partially closed shut-off valve; debris in supply line | Clean aerator; ensure shut-off valves are fully open; flush supply lines |
| Leaks at connections | Loose connections; worn gaskets; improper sealant application | Tighten connections; replace gaskets; reapply plumber's putty/sealant |
| Dripping from spout | Worn cartridge | Replace faucet cartridge (contact customer support for part information) |
| Water temperature issues | Incorrect supply line connection; water heater issue | Verify hot/cold lines are connected correctly; check water heater settings |
