1. Introduction

The Princeton Tec EOS 130 Headlamp is a durable lighting solution designed for outdoor activities. It features a single long-throw Maxbright LED housed in a rugged, watertight casing, making it suitable for various challenging environments. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your EOS 130 Headlamp.

2. Setup

2.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the rear of the headlamp unit.
  2. Unscrew the battery compartment cap. The design allows for hand-tightening to ensure a waterproof seal.
  3. Insert three (3) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Securely re-screw the battery compartment cap until it is hand-tight to maintain the waterproof integrity.

2.2. Adjusting the Headband

The elastic headband is adjustable to fit various head sizes. Slide the buckles on the strap to achieve a comfortable and secure fit. The headlamp unit can also be tilted to adjust the beam angle.

3. Operating Instructions

The EOS 130 Headlamp features a single button for all operations.

3.1. Power On/Off and Mode Selection

  • To Turn On: Press the power button once. The headlamp will typically activate in its lowest white light mode or the last used mode.
  • To Cycle Modes: While the headlamp is on, press the power button repeatedly to cycle through the available output modes: High, Medium, Low, and Flash.
  • To Turn Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds, or cycle through all modes until the light turns off.

3.2. Brightness Adjustment (White Light)

For white light modes, some models allow for continuous dimming. While in a white light mode, press and hold the power button to gradually increase or decrease the brightness. Release the button when the desired brightness level is reached.

3.3. Red Light Functionality

The EOS 130 may feature a dedicated red light mode for preserving night vision. To access the red light, press the power button to cycle through modes until the red light activates. Some models may offer direct access to red light by holding the button from the off position, or by cycling through white light modes.

4. Features

  • Focused Narrow Beam: Provides a powerful beam for distant illumination or fast-paced activities.
  • Waterproof (IPX7): Maintains waterproof integrity down to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.
  • Maxbright LED: Utilizes a high-quality LED for bright and efficient white light.
  • Regulated LED: Sophisticated circuitry maintains consistent brightness as battery voltage decreases.
  • Extended Burn Time: Offers up to 100 hours of runtime on 3 AAA batteries.
  • Adjustable Head-Unit: The headlamp unit can be rotated to direct the light beam as needed.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the headlamp with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Care: Remove batteries if the headlamp will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Waterproof Seal: Periodically inspect the O-ring seal on the battery compartment for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure it is clean and properly seated before closing the compartment to maintain waterproofing.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Light Not Turning On: Check battery orientation and ensure batteries are fresh. Verify the battery compartment cap is securely tightened.
  • Dim Light Output: Replace batteries with fresh ones. The regulated LED feature should maintain brightness, but very low battery levels will affect output.
  • Intermittent Operation: Ensure battery contacts are clean and free of corrosion. Re-seat batteries firmly.
