This filter system is designed to ensure clean and healthy water for aquariums ranging from 200 to 800 liters (approximately 120-150 cm in length).

The JBL CristalProfi e1902 greenline filter is a closed-circuit water system, engineered for quiet operation and high energy efficiency. Please read this manual thoroughly before setting up and operating your filter to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Safety Information

Always observe the following safety precautions to prevent injury or damage:

  • Before any maintenance or installation, always disconnect all electrical appliances in the aquarium from the power supply.
  • Ensure the filter is placed on a stable, level surface, preferably below the aquarium water level for optimal performance.
  • Do not operate the filter if the power cord or plug is damaged.
  • Keep the filter and all electrical connections away from water splashes.
  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
  • Residual water in the product indicates that the product has been tested for leaks during production. This is normal and does not signify a used or faulty product.

3. Hose and Pipe Connection

  1. Connect the inlet and outlet hoses to the filter unit. The hose connections are rotatable 360 degrees for flexible positioning.
  2. Attach the suction strainer to the inlet pipe and the spray bar to the outlet pipe.
  3. Secure the inlet and outlet pipes inside the aquarium using the provided suction cups. Ensure the inlet is positioned to draw water effectively and the outlet provides good water circulation.

4. Priming the Filter

The integrated quick-start priming device allows for easy filter startup. Press the priming button repeatedly until water begins to flow into the filter and the hoses are filled. This eliminates the need for manual water suction.

Once the filter is primed and all connections are secure, plug the filter into a power outlet. The JBL CristalProfi e1902 greenline is designed for extremely quiet operation with a pump capacity of 1900 liters per hour.

  • Continuous Operation: The filter is designed for continuous operation to maintain optimal water quality.
  • Flow Rate: The filter provides a robust flow rate of 1900 l/h, ensuring efficient water circulation and filtration for aquariums up to 800 liters.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the efficient and quiet operation of your JBL CristalProfi filter. Neglecting maintenance can lead to reduced flow and increased noise.

1. Cleaning Hoses

Hoses should be cleaned thoroughly and regularly to prevent the buildup of biofilms, which can significantly reduce flow performance. Use a suitable hose brush, such as the JBL Cleany 6136100, for effective cleaning.

2. Filter Media Replacement and Cleaning

The filter media should be cleaned or replaced as needed, depending on the aquarium's bioload and water parameters. The filter media is easy to replace. Refer to Figure 2 for the arrangement of filter media layers.

3. General Cleaning

Periodically clean the filter head and impeller chamber to ensure smooth operation and prevent blockages.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your JBL CristalProfi e1902 greenline filter.

Issue: Reduced Flow Rate

Cause: A decrease in flow rate is typically due to clogged filter media or the accumulation of biofilms within the hoses.

Solution: Regularly clean the filter media and thoroughly clean the hoses using a hose brush. Ensure the filter baskets are properly seated.

Issue: Filter is Noisy

Cause 1: During initial setup or after maintenance, residual air may be trapped within the filter media. This can cause gurgling or occasional chattering for the first 5-7 days of operation.

Solution 1: Allow time for the trapped air to escape naturally. Ensure the filter is properly primed.

Cause 2: Resonance transmissions can occur if the filter is in direct contact with the aquarium cabinet or other hard surfaces.

Solution 2: Ensure the filter is resting on its four rubber feet and has no direct contact with the cabinet. Place the filter on a soft surface or use additional dampening material if necessary. Also, check that the hoses are not in contact with the base cabinet.

Cause 3: Air entering the filter system.

Solution 3: Check the inlet hose for any air chambers or streams of bubbles, which indicate an air leak near the inlet hose. Tighten all connections and inspect hoses for damage.
