4. Operating Instructions

Once connected, your operating system should automatically detect the drive. You can then access the drive as an external storage device.

  • Accessing Data: The connected HDD/SSD will appear as a removable drive in your computer's file explorer (Windows) or Finder (macOS).
  • New Drives: If connecting a brand new HDD/SSD, it may need to be initialized and formatted before use. Refer to your operating system's disk management tools for this process.
  • LED Indicator: A blue LED light on the adapter indicates power and data activity.
  • Automatic Sleep Function: The adapter features an automatic sleep function, typically after 15 minutes of inactivity, to conserve power and extend drive life.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your UGREEN SATA USB 3.0 Conversion Cable:

  • Keep the device in a dry environment, away from moisture and extreme temperatures.
  • Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts.
  • Disconnect the device properly by safely ejecting it from your operating system before unplugging the USB cable.
  • Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Drive not detected:
    • Ensure all connections are secure.
    • For 3.5-inch HDDs/SSDs, confirm the AC power adapter is correctly connected and powered.
    • Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Check your computer's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to see if the drive is recognized but uninitialized or unformatted.
  • Slow transfer speeds:
    • Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in slower speeds.
    • Verify that your operating system supports UASP for optimal performance.
    • The performance of the HDD/SSD itself can affect transfer speeds.
  • Intermittent disconnections:
    • Ensure the AC power adapter is used for 3.5-inch drives.
    • Avoid using USB hubs if possible, or try a powered USB hub.
    • Check for loose connections.
