1. Introduction

The Autel MaxiPRO MP808S is a professional automotive diagnostic scanner designed for comprehensive vehicle system analysis. This device provides advanced diagnostic functions, including ECU coding, bi-directional control, and a wide range of service functions, making it suitable for both professional technicians and advanced DIY users. It operates on Android 11.0 and features enhanced hardware for efficient performance.

2. Setup

2.1 Initial Power-On

  1. Ensure the device is fully charged or connected to a power source.
  2. Press and hold the power button located on the side of the device until the screen illuminates.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your preferred language and region.

2.2 Network Connection

Connect the MP808S to a stable Wi-Fi network for software updates and online functions.

  1. From the main menu, tap on 'Settings'.
  2. Select 'Wi-Fi' and choose your desired network.
  3. Enter the password if prompted and connect. The device supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi bands.

2.3 Vehicle Connection

The MP808S connects to vehicles via an OBD II cable.

  1. Locate the vehicle's OBD II port, typically under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Connect one end of the OBD II cable to the vehicle's port.
  3. Connect the other end of the cable to the MP808S device.
  4. Turn the vehicle's ignition to the 'ON' position (engine off).

3. Operation

3.1 All System Diagnostics

The MP808S performs OE-level diagnostics across all available vehicle systems, including Engine, ABS, SRS, Transmission, and more.

  • Read/Clear DTCs: Retrieve and erase Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
  • Live Data: View real-time data streams from various sensors and components. The device offers 5-in-1 graphic live data stream, with Analog, Text, Wave, and Digital Gauge modes for comprehensive analysis.
  • Freeze Frame Data: Capture a snapshot of vehicle conditions at the moment a fault code was set.
  • ECU Information: Access detailed information about the Electronic Control Units.

3.2 Auto VIN & Auto Scan

The Auto VIN feature automatically identifies the vehicle's make, model, and year, streamlining the diagnostic process. Auto Scan 2.0 quickly scans all vehicle systems for fault codes.

3.3 ECU Coding

The ECU Coding function allows for advanced vehicle customization and repair.

  • Online Coding: For BMW, Porsche, VW, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, etc.
  • Offline Coding/PMI: For Ford, Mazda, Jaguar, Vauxhall, Opel, etc.
  • Refresh Hidden Functions: Activate or deactivate specific vehicle features.
  • Component Matching: Recode adaptive data for components after repair or replacement.

3.4 Bi-directional Control (Active Tests)

  • FCA AutoAuth: Provides direct access for diagnostics, resets, and active tests on 2018 and newer Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, and Fiat vehicles.

4. Maintenance

4.1 Software Updates

Regular software updates ensure your MP808S has the latest vehicle coverage and diagnostic capabilities. The device includes 2 years of free software updates.

  1. Ensure the device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network.
  2. From the main menu, tap on 'Update'.
  3. Select the available updates and follow the on-screen instructions to install them.
  4. After installation, the device may restart.

4.2 Data Manager

The Data Manager application allows you to review, store, print, and manage diagnostic data and reports.
