This valve is designed for applications requiring automatic flow control with a 2-wire auto return mechanism.
2. Safety Information
- Electrical Safety: Ensure power is disconnected before performing any wiring or maintenance. Incorrect wiring can lead to electrical shock or damage to the device.
- Pressure Safety: Do not exceed the maximum operating pressure of 1000 kPa (145 PSI). Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free before applying pressure.
- Installation Environment: Install the valve in an environment suitable for its IP65 rating, protecting it from dust and water jets. Avoid extreme temperatures or corrosive atmospheres unless specified for such conditions.
- Material Compatibility: Ensure the valve material (brass) is compatible with the fluid being controlled.
- California Proposition 65 Warning: This product can expose you to Lead, which is known to the State of California to cause cancer. For more information, please visit www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
3. Product Overview
The U.S. Solid Motorized Ball Valve is a robust and reliable solution for automated fluid control. It features a brass body, NPT threading, and a 2-wire auto return mechanism, making it suitable for various applications where a valve needs to open or close automatically upon power application or removal.

5. Installation
- Prepare the Piping: Ensure the piping system is clean and free of debris. The valve is designed for 3/4 inch NPT connections.
- Apply Thread Sealant: Wrap the male pipe ends with PTFE (Teflon) tape or apply appropriate pipe thread sealant to ensure a watertight seal.
- Connect the Valve: Screw the valve firmly onto the pipe ends. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the threads or the valve body. Use appropriate tools for tightening.
- Mounting: Secure the valve in a stable position using appropriate mounting hardware if necessary. Ensure the valve is supported to prevent strain on the pipe connections.
- Leak Check: After installation, slowly introduce fluid into the system and check for any leaks at the connections. Tighten connections as needed.

6. Wiring Instructions
This U.S. Solid Motorized Ball Valve features a 2-wire auto return setup. This means the valve will open when power is applied and return to its closed position when power is removed. The valve largely de-energizes after opening, reducing the likelihood of overheating.

Figure 6.1: 2-Wire Auto Return Wiring Diagram (DC and AC).
2-Wire Auto Return Setup:
- DC Connection: Connect the red wire to the positive pole (+) and the black wire to the negative pole (-). The valve will open when energized. Disconnecting either wire will close the valve.
- AC Connection: Connect one wire to the positive pole (+) and the other to the negative pole (-). The valve will open when energized. Disconnecting either wire will close the valve.

Other wiring configurations are available for different valve models. The diagram below illustrates various wiring options, including 2-wire reverse polarity, 3-wire, 3-wire (1-way setup), and 5-wire configurations. Ensure you use the correct wiring for your specific valve model.

7. Operation
The 2-wire auto return motorized ball valve operates based on the presence or absence of electrical power:
- Opening the Valve: Apply the specified 9-24V AC/DC power to the red and black wires. The motor will activate and rotate the ball to the open position. This process typically takes 3-5 seconds. Once fully open, a limit switch minimizes power consumption, preventing overheating.
- Closing the Valve: Remove the power supply from the red and black wires. The motor will automatically return the ball to the fully closed position. This ensures that the valve closes in the event of a power loss, providing a fail-safe mechanism.
8. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your motorized ball valve:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically inspect the valve and its connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or leaks.
- Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the valve actuator clean and free from excessive dust or debris. While the valve has an IP65 rating, prolonged exposure to harsh conditions should be minimized.
- Electrical Connections: Check electrical connections for tightness and ensure wiring is not damaged or frayed.
- Fluid Compatibility: Verify that the fluid passing through the valve remains compatible with brass and stainless steel components.
9. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your motorized ball valve, refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Valve does not open/close | No power or incorrect voltage. Damaged wiring. Motor malfunction. | Verify power supply (9-24V AC/DC). Check wiring connections for proper polarity and integrity. Inspect motor for signs of damage. |
| Valve leaks at connections | Improperly sealed threads. Damaged threads. | Ensure PTFE tape or thread sealant is correctly applied and connections are tightened appropriately. Inspect threads for damage. |
| Valve operates slowly | Low voltage. Internal obstruction. | Check power supply voltage. Inspect the valve for any foreign objects obstructing the ball's movement. |
| Valve overheats | Continuous power supply without limit switch activation. | The 2-wire auto return model is designed to de-energize after opening. If overheating occurs, verify the internal limit switch mechanism is functioning correctly. |
