4. Operating Instructions
This section details how to use the UNI-T UT210E for various measurements.
4.1 Power On/Off
To power on the meter, rotate the function rotary switch from the "OFF" position to any desired measurement function. To power off, rotate the switch back to the "OFF" position. The meter will automatically power off after approximately 15 minutes of inactivity to save battery life.
4.2 AC/DC Current Measurement
Use the clamp head to measure current without breaking the circuit.
- Rotate the function switch to the 100A~, 20A~, or 2A~ position for AC current, or 100A, 20A, or 2A position for DC current.
- Press the clamp head trigger to open the clamp.
- Enclose only one conductor with the clamp jaws. Ensure the clamp is fully closed.
- Read the current value on the LCD display.
- For DC current, press the ZERO button to zero the display before measurement if needed.

4.3 AC/DC Voltage Measurement
To measure voltage, use the provided test leads.
- Insert the red test lead into the VΩHz input jack and the black test lead into the COM input jack.
- Rotate the function switch to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V (DC Voltage) position.
- Connect the test leads in parallel to the circuit or component under test.
- Read the voltage value on the LCD display.
4.4 Resistance, Diode, Capacitance, and Continuity Measurement
These functions also require the use of test leads.
- Insert the red test lead into the VΩHz input jack and the black test lead into the COM input jack.
- Rotate the function switch to the Ω (Resistance/Diode/Capacitance/Continuity) position.
- Press the SELECT button to cycle through Resistance (Ω), Diode Test, Capacitance (F), and Continuity modes.
- For Resistance: Connect the test leads across the component.
- For Diode Test: Connect the red lead to the anode and the black lead to the cathode.
- For Capacitance: Discharge the capacitor before connecting the leads.
- For Continuity: Connect the leads across the circuit. An audible beep indicates continuity.
4.5 Non-Contact Voltage (NCV) Detection
The NCV function allows for quick detection of AC voltage without direct contact.
- Rotate the function switch to the NCV position.
- Move the NCV sensing area of the meter close to the conductor or outlet.
- The NCV warning light will illuminate, and an audible alarm will sound, with the display showing signal strength, indicating the presence of AC voltage.

Image: The UNI-T UT210E clamp meter demonstrating its NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) function near an electrical outlet. The display shows a signal strength indicator, and an audible alarm is indicated.
4.6 Variable Frequency Control (VFC) Function
The VFC function enables accurate measurement of voltage and current in circuits with variable frequency drives or other non-standard waveforms.
- Rotate the function switch to the V~ (AC Voltage) or A~ (AC Current) position.
- Long press the SELECT/V.F.C button to activate VFC mode. The VFC indicator will appear on the display.
- Proceed with your voltage or current measurement as usual.
- Long press the SELECT/V.F.C button again to exit VFC mode.
4.7 Data Hold and Backlight
- Data Hold: Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display. Press it again to release.
- Backlight: Long press the HOLD button to turn the LCD backlight on or off.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Replacement
When the low battery indicator appears on the LCD, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate measurements. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.
5.2 Cleaning
Wipe the meter's casing with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasives or solvents. Ensure the meter is completely dry before use.
5.3 Storage
If the meter is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the meter in a dry, cool environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
- Meter does not power on: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted.
- "OL" displayed: Indicates overload or out-of-range measurement. Select a higher range or check the circuit.
- Inaccurate readings: Check battery level, ensure test leads are properly connected, and verify the correct function is selected. Ensure the clamp jaws are fully closed for current measurements.
- No NCV detection: Ensure the NCV sensing area is close enough to the AC voltage source.
