Setup and Installation

1. Mounting the Timer

  1. Choose a suitable location near an electrical outlet and away from direct sunlight or extreme weather.
  2. Use the provided mounting hardware to secure the timer to a wall or sturdy surface. Ensure it is level.

2. Wiring the Valves

Each irrigation valve has two wires. One wire from each valve connects to the common wire, and the other connects to a specific station terminal on the timer.

  • Connect the common wire from your valves to the terminal labeled "COMMON" or "C" on the timer.
  • Connect the remaining wire from each valve to its corresponding station terminal (e.g., Valve 1 to Station 1, Valve 2 to Station 2, etc.). The Orbit 6-Station timer supports up to six individual zones.

3. Connecting Power

Plug the timer's power adapter into a standard electrical outlet. The LCD screen should illuminate, indicating power is supplied.

Operating Instructions

The Easy Dial interface allows for intuitive programming. Rotate the dial to select different programming modes.

1. Setting Current Time and Date

  1. Turn the dial to SET CLOCK.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to adjust the hour, then press NEXT to move to minutes, and then to AM/PM.
  3. Press NEXT to set the current year, month, and day using the +/- buttons.

2. Programming Watering Schedules (Programs A and B)

The timer offers two independent programs, A and B, allowing for different watering schedules for various zones or plant types.

  1. Turn the dial to PROGRAM A or PROGRAM B.
  2. Set Start Times: Press NEXT to cycle through up to four start times per program. Use +/- to adjust. Set unused start times to OFF.
  3. Set Run Times: Press NEXT. For each station (1-6), use +/- to set the watering duration from 1 minute to 240 minutes. Press NEXT to move to the next station.
  4. Set Watering Days: Press NEXT. Use +/- to select specific days of the week, or choose an interval (e.g., every 2nd day).

3. Smart Budgeting / Seasonal Adjust

This feature allows you to adjust all station run times in a program by a percentage, useful for seasonal changes without reprogramming each station individually.

  1. Turn the dial to BUDGET.
  2. Use the +/- buttons to adjust the watering percentage from 10% to 200%. 100% is the programmed run time.

4. Manual Watering

To water manually outside of programmed schedules:

  2. Use +/- to select the station you wish to water and set its duration.
  3. Press START to begin manual watering. The timer will automatically return to the AUTO position after manual watering is complete.

  1. Turn the dial to RAIN DELAY.
  2. Use +/- to select the number of days (24, 48, or 72 hours) you wish to delay watering.
  3. The timer will resume its programmed schedule automatically after the delay period.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning

Wipe the timer's exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.

2. Battery Backup (if applicable)

Some models may include a battery compartment for program backup during power outages. If your model has this feature, replace batteries annually or when the low battery indicator appears. Refer to the battery compartment for specific battery type (e.g., 2 x AA batteries).
